Nielm's Recording padding plug-in problem

Hi all,

I was using Neil's default recording plugin in sagetv, but since yesterday i have switched to the SageMC 16x9 STV. It's a beautifull STV i think, but now i have lost the 'enhanced' menu item in 'Setup>detailed setup'. Does this mean it is impossible to use this fine plug-in?

Cheers,
Henk99

if you re-import it, it should work fine...

Hmmm...sorry, but it doesn't. I had the plug-in loaded when i had the original stv active. I had the enhanced menu present then and working.
Yesterday, i started using the sagemc 16x9 STV and noticed the enhanced part was gone. I restarted sagetv, but that didn't help. I then reloaded the plug-in, but that also didn't help. I restarted sagetv, restarted the pc, reloaded the plugin again. No go.
I can't get this menu to appear. I just tried to return to originalstv, and there the menu item was present again. Again reloaded the sagemc stv, again no menu item. Reloaded the plug-in and still no menu.

One thing is should add. When selecting this plugin from the dialog inside the detailed setup > advanced menu, i immediately return to the home screen of Sage. So, i don't stay in the settings menu, but get kicked out of there immediately.

Do you have any other suggestions perhaps?

(Don't use SageMC myself, just downloaded and tested)

I see, the enhancements menu does not appear, but the default padding will still be applied to new manual records and new favorites.

I notice also that SageMC does not display manual record padding at all, (but you can verify either in the webserver or using another STV, that the padding is set for a future manual record).

Favorite (Series record) padding is set and displayed correctly.

Until I work out what is going wrong, the padding settings can be modified either using another STV+import, or by editing the properties file while Sage is shut down.

If this is still not working, check that the STV file is writable so that Sage can save the updated STV.

I just installed the 'record padding' plugin, and have been using SageMC for a while. Moving down, passed the last item on the detailed setup screen does bring up the 'default padding' settings (for me it did anyway).

The padding isn't shown though when setting up a new recording.
I haven't tried yet whether it does actually pad the recording or what happens when the start- an stop before/after times are adjusted using the sageMC dialog.

cheers
Sweep

I could not actually find a way of viewing/changing the padding for a single recording in SageMC... But you can see it in the web UI (in the detailed info page, there will be a line 'Scheduled to record from...', and clicking Record Options will show the padding settings.

I don't have the web UI installed (as far as i know). So wil just have to do some tests ;-)
In SageMC, using the 'advanced record' instead of 'record' will bring up a dialog wich lets you adjust start and stop time.

yes I know, but once a recording (or an Advanced single recording) is set/saved, there is no way I can see of modifying the padding.

I am pretty sure you can but will double check when I get home. I use that often though so think I would have noticed by now.

I do remember having that option, but can't find it now either. Maybe it got lost in an updated version.

Technically it is the same menu, but I don't have an image of it. I am wondering if it has something to do with if the recording has started yet or not but I can't remember. Once I see it I will know .

I took a look at it. For some reason I disable the recording options button once the recording is saved. I will look into it. Anyway, you can set padding on the manual recording while creating it or on a series (and can apparently modify series later).

Does SageMC have a manual recording option (like the "default" SageTV has)?

While you're looking,
would it be possible to (pre-)set the padding values with the default values set by Nielm's plugin ?

Code:
nielm/default_start_pad=180000
nielm/default_stop_pad=420000
thanks

yes -- thats what this discussion is all about
Either press the record button (or CTRL-Y) on your remote when highlighting at a show in the guide or in detailed info page; or select Record in the detailed info page; or select Advanced record with a frequency of Single Show.

Sweep: you can add those values in the properties file at any time (so long as sage is shut down). They stay in there whatever STV is loaded and whether you have my plugin installed or not.

Everyone: Ok, the Enhancements page is added to detailed setup (as sweep says) you just have to move the highlight down past the end of the visible list of sections (after setup menu), and then you will get a page with a modify button for the default padding settings.

What i ment, it would be nice if these values actually showed up when making an (advanced) recording as the preset values for start and stop padding. Actually as a default setting, which then could be altered per recording.
