SageTV for Linux

Are there any plans on Frey releasing SageTV for Linux for existing paid customers, even if it's unsupported?

I recently bought SageTV (just before the Linux version announcement) because it was the solution I liked best and found the most stable. However, I am not a Windows person by any means and continually look for something stable and decent on Linux, hoping for the day I can switch back.

I don't really want to pay more cash for a hardware oem solution, I just want SageTV for Linux. Hell, I wouldn't even care if Frey said "you're on your own for getting it setup and running".

In case you haven't seen it, I think the last we heard on this subject is in this post from Dan, where he said:

I am hoping that the Linux version will be offered as well.

Reason 1: Windows is an oversaturated operating system. Linux can be installed/distributed with only the bare minimum. Presuming that SageTV will efficiently make use of the resources I can image a more stable and efficient environment.

Reason 2: SageTV can benefit from the open source environment of Linux. My htpc is not complete until I have audio/video burning, digital picture import/export, and portable mp3 player transfering. I'm having a difficult time finding any kind of open source solutions to any of these problems. Linux is built on a community of open source applications.

I believe that Frey Tech. announced that the reason they weren't considering a public release of the linux version is due to the many distributions that linux is available through. I'll run whatever distribution is needed. They could even package the software as a minimal distribution and sell it that way.

Dan said they were considering it. But I think it sounds as though it will be unsupported due to the reasons you mention.

Put me in for this too. I'd love to ditch Windows on my PVR, although sadly for other requirements I cannot ditch it on my main machine. From what I've found, SageTV is the only folks who are offering up multi-platform support.

I think until the 3.0 RTM, that's going to be the only way to get it.
