Alarm Clock Feature?

Well I've got this wild idea and haven't seen anything in the forums about it yet.

I just moved my Sage.tv PC into my bedroom. I have it sleeping (screen saver mode) at night, but would like to have a "Alarm Clock" Feature to have it turn on and a start playing a certain channel in the morning to help wake me up in the morning.

Basically looking to turn in the morning news for weather and traffic, etc.

Any ideas on how I could do this?

Even possible?

Thanks,
Chris

PS - I don't care if the video is on, just the sound for now.

Three years and still no answer!

I've just set up a client in the Bedroom and installed the FM radio plugin. Now I'd like to use it as an alarm clock. So, any ideas?

It would be nice to have an alarm clock which starts a TV channel of your choice in the morning and turns off after a set amount of time.

Seems to me it should be pretty straightforward to set up a Scheduled Task in Control Panel that would call Sage at a preset time with the appropriate command line for Live TV (per Appendix D of the manual).

As GKusnick suggested this 'feature' would be implemented outside the sagetv application. It would be very dependent on what your setup is regarding how your system sends remote control commands and what media you choose to wake you up (music, radio, livetv?)

For example, my system uses girder in connection with an IRTrans IR device. I personally would set up girder to open an instance of sagetv (if not already running) and also send an IR remote command to my monitor to turn on. Then as GKusnick mentioned a scheduled task to send the appropriate command line to sagetv. Oh - and do you need your receiver to turn on also? What volume level? You can't really expect the sagetv application to handle everyones individual setup. This is a task for your computer to handle.

Don't get me wrong - it's a good idea and I may just set this up when I get a client for the bedroom. Good luck setting it up.

it would be really great to have it within the Sage program itself.
