SageTVClient 2.0 reboots my PC
I've been using SageTVClient 2.0 without a problem for several months. A couple of weeks ago I've begun seeing a problem. While watching a recorded TV show the video will suddenly freeze and the audio will studder for about a second then the PC will reboot. This happens about every 10 or 15 minutes or so. I thought it might be hardware related but I have never seen the problem when using ZoomPlayer. Last night I watched a 1-hour video that was recorded with SageTV on ZoomPlayer without a single hiccup.
I'm running with Overlay and I've tried both nVidia and Sonic decoders and I've tried different audio renderers. I recently upgraded to Sage 2.1 but had issues with that and went back to 2.0 so my best guess is that has something to do with the problem. I've searched event logs and have looked for error logs but there is nothing that I can find. I have DirectX 9.0c and the latest Java. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Greg

You might want to look for updates to your video card and audio card drivers.

and disable XP's auto-reboot so you can see the blue screen (which will probably tell you which of the two is at fault).

Good thoughts. I have the latest video card driver (Catalyst 4.12) but didn't think of the Audio drivers.
I try updating the audio drivers and turn off the XP auto reboot (if I can figure out how to do that) when I get home tonight. Thanks.

I have also seen hard crashes from java in the past... You may want to reinstall the latest version of java
(disable automatic reboot: Right-click My Computer->Properties->Advanced -> Startup and Recovery) |

I tried the suggestions, re-installed Java and I have the latest Chaintech drivers for my audio card. And I turned off auto-reboot. I caught one crash and now Sage just hangs instead of rebooting. The crash I did see was cinemasteraudio.dll. I've found that when using either Sonic and nVidia audio decoders (the ones I paid for) I get the hang, but Intervideo audio decoder (the free one) works.
I tried running Sage 2.1 but I couldn't get the nVidia decoder to work at all. In Sage 2.1 I select both the video and audio nVidia decoders and start watching a recording. The nVidia system tray icon shows up as expected but when I open it I only see the tab for Video, not audio. I have no idea what audio decoder it's using at this point. In Sage 2.0 I get the audio tab but I get the crashes. Not sure what's going on with my system. I'm tempted to reformat my hard drive, install Windows and start over again. Oh and Zoom Player can run all night with the nVidia decoders with out a problem.

For anyone that's interested I finally solved my SageTVClient crash problem. It turned out to be an ACPI error (I found an error in the Event Log) that was crashing my system. I found a BIOS update for my mother board and Sage has been solid ever since. I still can't get the nVidia Audio decoder to work but the Sonic works fine so I'm back in business.
