Picture Quality with PVR-250, not very good
Well, I had a WinTV-GO card using DScaler and it was sharp and everything was perfect. So I figure this PVR-250 will look great in SageTV...but it doesnt :-\ I have quality on DVD Standard (whatever the highest setting is up there), and the Nvidia Codec (for some reason, properties wont pop up when right clicking the icon for it, any ideas?). The picture still doesn't look as good as it should.
Any ideas on how I can approve it? It needs to be sharper I think or something is missing to make it look real good |

Do a google search for "Hauppauge Registry Tricks" and click on the first result, once there download the sharpness reg edit file. open it, then reboot.

you do not need to set the sharpness in the registry
you can do in the color calibration in SageTV the settings I said will guarantee good PQ but you do need to do the color calibration by default the brightness is too high and everything could be fine tuned |

where is the color calibration in sage (im a newbie) I have been using the nVidia VMR color settings (in the Display properties menu) to tune color in sage.
Also, I have been using the elecard decoder with the Two frame setting, and I get a great picture from a WinTV PVR-150 (practically the same as a 250). Last edited by LegolasX21E; 01-01-2005 at 07:58 AM. |

I told you before, I can not select properties for the Nvidia codec in the taskbar, nothing comes up. Is there a way to always make it show? Maybe that can do it

Capture color calibration has nothing do do with codec settings.

I am messing with the color calibration mode now, cant really tell the difference.
I will try the other method of color calibration with the link you said |

SageTV will override any color calibration settings in the registry with its setting so it is pointless to do it outside of SageTV.

Well, all the white bars for the histogram were above the level.
Everything else pretty much looks the same :-\ The only thing I can not do is open the properties of the Nvidia decoder I am using a GeForce Ti4200 on a standard TV Last edited by Morphx2; 01-01-2005 at 11:31 AM. |
