Looking for cheapest solution for third tuner

I was thinking about adding a third tuner to my rig. I've located a fairly inexprensive ATI E-Home wonder locally and I'm considering that. However it's the version with only cable input. Since I don't want to limit my future expandability I was shying away from it.

I've found a K-World Hardware Mpeg Tv Expert which has all the inputs, for a decent price. Does anyone know whether or not this device works with sage?

I'm sort confussed at the output cable, it seems to have a jack to hookup to your soundcard, at least that's what I'm assuming it is. Wouldn't this thing capture sound like a PVR 250 if it is hardware?

Thanks for any help guys

I would really recommend using one of the popular cards to avoid issues.

The 150 is not too expensive and is the card Hauppauge is defaulting to now.

Yeah that would be ideal, however my local retailers do not stock that card. And another PVR 250 is just too expensive.

Hopefully there might be someone who has tried the Kworld card, if not I may just stick with the ATI.

I'd say you're pretty lucky you have local retailer that stock anything. Why not order one?

FWIW, between the two you list, I'd go with the E-Home, it's know to work. Of course I'd really get a 150 if you can.

if you have a Circuit City near by they sell pvr 150s this week for 70 dollars
you could cross the border and sneak one back if you are close to the border

Unfortunately I'm not that close to the boarder, 1.5 hours away. At least not close enough to walk, I don't drive. Anyways I think i'm going with the e-home. It's on for a really good price. Although I found somewhere I can order the PVR150MCE for about 30 bucks more. Do you really think it's worth the difference? Keep in mind this is like a backup tuner that won't see much action. From what I've read there is no quality loss, but what's more important is the quality settings... Anything funky about using the e-home? What about volume adjustment? I have my PVR 250s cranked up a bit via the registry setting, anything similar with the ATI?

Thanks guys

I'm In canada too. goto www.ncix.com
I've order from them many times with in the past few years. They are based in Canada, and have really great prices. They Have the 150 in stock. I don't have one, but will get one soon and agree its your best bet for compatability.

I've bought Kworld stuff before and....... not too great

I also use NCIX since they are cheap and they are really nearby for me (15 minutes).

For cheap*est* in vancover, use ATIC (on broadway). NCIX and ATIC are the same for questions, service, etc. Be aware that NCIX has a retarded return policy on things like PVR -- they can't answer questions (they couldn't answer mine) but yet the return policy on on them is exchange for same item only.

FWIW

I think I'm settling on grabbing the E-home wonder...

One question though, will this tuner record closed captions like my pvr 250s?

What about the 150, does that record closed caption?

Thanks guys...
