Problems installing second 250

Hi,

I love SageTV so I thought I would buy a second PVR 250 in order to catch the shows that I have been missing because of scheduling conflicts.

I put the second card in and ran the HWclear program. I reinstalled the drivers using the disk and installed all of the WinTV software. I now have 2 problems with Sage.

First, both cards are detected and setup with the proper TV schedules but the second card is recording only grey fuzz. The audio is there but the video is not. The first card is recording fine, but the second is not. Is there any way to select the signal for viewing TV so I can see the output from the second card, it seems to be going to the first by default. Anyone have ideas about the grey fuzz?

Second, the IR remote (silver) is acting all funny now. It works with WinTV just fine but does nothing but fullscreen for SageTV. I looked in the ini file for the remote and saw no references to Sage. I'm guessing that is a problem but I don't know how to fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Are both PVR-250s the save version (i.e., do they either both have heatsinks or neither)? If not, then installing the drivers from the disk is what you don't want to do. Go to SHS PVR and download the drives from there. They tend to be newer and a bit more reliable.

WRT the remote, my guess is that SageTV is looking at the other card for the remote. Have you tried swapping the card to which the remote is connected?

Hi Fidget,

I did try swapping where the remote is plugged in and only the old one works.

I tried to aceess SHS PVR, because that is where I got the fix last time I had issues with the IRremote but I can't connect. Is the site down or does my ISP have DNS update issues?

Thanks

I still can not access the site...very weird. Though I managed to get someone else to get the drivers off of it and send them to be. I used the latest on the new card and reinstalled Sage and that fixed it all. Thanks for the help.

When you reinstall the hauppauge IR software, the irremote.ini file gets reset. To add SageTV support back into it, you can either reinstall SageTV ot grab one of the sample ini files in the links in my sig lines, below: see post #3 in link 1 or post #15 in link 3. Don't forget to restart ir.exe after changing the ini file.

Once it is working, I suggest making a backup copy of that ini file in case it gets reset in the future.

Edit: Duh. I missed your comment in your last post about having already reinstalled SageTV. Oh well... at least make a backup of the ini file now.
