It maybe that Frey only gave Studio to experienced programmmers (Which would explain the high quality of the STV's) , but there are a LOT of plugins and themes being developed over at Meedio. And thier TV product will eventually arrive.

I am not trying to be overly critical, I was just pointing out that something Like Meedio that depends on the strength of its plug-ins is a mistake. That is why something like BM is successful. Even Meedio knows this as they come out with new version that incorporate the features of some of the more used plug-ins.

Using unsupported software is just not for the majority of users. STV's are in the same category. A very small percentage of Sage users actually use a custom STV over the default one.

I feel the plug-in model is actually one of Meedio's strengths. If you think about it similar things like comskip have already been developed for Sage. Meedio has the option to incorporate the most popular plug-ins into future versions. Given the small programming staff of Frey I think this is the path they should be taking.

Depends on your market. The Meedio market is very small and limited to us more technical folks. You could probably survive but you won't become super successful by serving that market. However, if you use that market as a test base for new technology and ideas then incorporate that into your core product that could be good.

You mention Comskip. Only a fraction of SageTV users are going to install and use something like that.

Please don't misinterpret what I am saying as what is better or worse, I am just commenting from a business model perspective.

Me either. Just a friendly difference of opinion.
