No Audio when recording

Sage Ver 2.1.10
Two PVR 250 Cards
When recording with both cards only one has audio, but both have video. Does anyone know what I need to check?
It worked before upgrading to newest version. The only problem I had when I upgraded was one of the PVR cards disappeared. I had to uninstall and reinstall the new version in order to have both card available.
Thanks in advance

Same Problem

I have the same problem. Two PVR250's but only one has sound. If I remove the one with sound then the other one gets sound back. Any Ideas?

Same thing here. Using 2.2.1. I've cleaned things out, reinstalled multiple times (Sage and drivers), tried different decoders. Just wondering if I put in another card if I would get two that worked or two duds...

I have the same issue. One PVR works fine but the other has no audio (but fine video). Its completely random which one works on any given boot-up. (you can check in Setup Wizard).

My setup is one 250MCE and the other is a regular 250, both version -16. I get around it by the following steps:

1. close Sage (all the way...)
2. in device manager disable one of the PVR's
3. restart Sage, tune to Live TV
4. close Sage
5. back to device manager, enable the PVR
6. restart Sage
7. check that both PVRs are working with audio (rec one channel, watch another)
8. sometimes I have to go back and try the other PVR in device manager.

Huge PITA, but I only have to do this when I reboot the system.

Are you installing the entire CD after wiping out the "old drivers"?

Check out the troubleshooting FAQ on Sagetv.com here

snip...

If you are going to use the new WinTV-PVR-250 MCE with SageTV (by itself or in a multi-tuner setup)
Make sure you install the entire CD that comes with the MCE card before setting the card up in SageTV. If you continue to have problems, try the latest beta drivers available from Hauppauge's FTP Site in the CD.zip file.

I downloaded the updated drivers and WinTV package V 1.18.022.22292, containing driver pvr250_22_22292 and WinTV pvr250_22_inf

Also tried your work-around, but no go.

Same problem. Wiped drivers, no dice. Reinstalled sage and all has been well for a week, just waiting for the EPG to stop showing 'no data' on a lot of the channels.

when you "reinstalled Sage" was that deinstalling and reinstalling or just reinstall and overwrite?

I only experienced this with one recording so far where the audio is missing. I have a 350 and two 150MCE's, probably some sort of hardware conflict.

I'm getting this too, 2 pvr250 retail - tried the latest driver at the hauppauge site and the newer one at shspvr. If I record on one and watch with the other, no audio on the second pvr250. I'm running the latest Sage 2.2.2beta, same problem in Sage 2.1.

Are any of you saying that the same exact setup worked in an older version (say: v2.0), but that the hardware is not working properly with the latest SageTV beta version? If so, have you reported it to Frey?

I would ask if it worked with Hauppauge's WinTV... but I don't believe it uses multiple tuners, unless they've changed that.

Is the audio in the recorded file, but just isn't being played back, or is not even in the recording?

There used to be a problem with audio being shut off in recordings when using an older version of Norton AntiVirus. You could shut off Windows Messenger to get around that... but I haven't seen comments about people running into that in a long time.

My experience:

1. I don't know if this worked with 2.0 b/c I added my second tuner around the same time I "upgraded" to 2.1.

2. Haven't tried WinTV to duplicate.

3. How can I check to see if the audio is in the file? I'm guessing try to play it back in WMP or something outside of Sage?

I have not reported anything to Frey, my work-around fixes the issue. Has everyone tried the disable trick in Device Manager? does that work for anyone else? if so that could help with the de-bugging.

Reverse-

were you able to save your properties and wiz files in your reinstall?

Someone else a while back suggested wiping out the MCC entries in addition to running HWClear before reintalling the cards one at a time. anyone try that?

Yes - you would try playing it with some other app and/or on a different PC.

I never had 2.0. Started with 2.1. Will try recording something on the second tuner w/o sound and try some other app to play it and test for sound.

I just tried it, recorded two shows at the same time with my two pvr250's. Played them on another pc with different players (wmp10, elecard), one video doesn't have audio, the same one that didn't have audio in Sage when recording.

This is with the latest 2.2.2 beta, saw it in 2.1 too, and the latest pvr drivers from shspvr and also one from hauppauge's site.

No messenger of any kind here, mine is a dedicated Sage server/recording machine... it's not used for anything else.

Hummmm... this appears to be a Windows XP issue, at least in my case.

Today I wasn't getting any sound from both tuners, tried messing with the pci latency settings, didn't help. I haven't had audio from the second tuner for weeks, but haven't needed it lately so I didn't do anything about it.

So I updated to WindowsXP SP2 (from SP1), now both tuners are working perfectly with audio.
