Caching

It would be great if Sage could determine the stream speed before it begins playback, in order to assure enough cached data for stutter free play. This would be most helpful with Sage Clients. Perhaps it could be customized in a way that the end user could turn it off, or set a read-ahead value.. for example.. I'd like to set my client to read 2 minutes ahead before starting playback to ensure I don't get a blip if another network resource temporarily saturates my network Pipe..

I believe this is already configurable in the properties file.

Goto agree with ya Stuntman, MCE has it per example.
But I think this is something to be posted in the Customization forum.

Would you like to have the the honours?

(Maybe integration of Itunes Music stores/Online Radio would be nice too then)

I have searched for a thread.. does anybody know of the configuration in the clientproperties that would allow me to increase the caching size?

I'll keep looking, but if anybody knows it and can post it here, that could save me a lot of time!

Thanks!

I thought there was a setting similar to this but I couldn't find anything for it. The closest I found was:
videoframe/local_encoding_to_playback_delay=2000
videoframe/network_encoding_to_playback_delay=2000

But they do something a little different then what you want. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a controllable buffer.

Yes, that looks like it's worth a try.

Don't forget to reboot after making this change to make sure it takes affect.
