Its play weekend again

Thanks for all your continuing work, its great to see the system messages on the web server now

I've come across one slight problem though .....

I've been playing around with SageAlert today, so I went to the web server, went to the guide and set a manual recording. It started to record fine.

SageAlert sent me a nice email

I then clicked on the recording to cancel it, but the 'Recording Options' button is no longer there so there was no way to cancel it.

* I've since noticed that its working fine if I open the webserver using Firefox, not when using IE8.

This is what I get in Firefox

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2597/...b25c3252_o.jpg

and this is what I get from Internet Explorer

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2660/...8d9fc58f_o.jpg

You can see that it shows the last 6 option but doesn't display the first 5. I'm guessing its some kind of formatting difference.

you might try ie8's 'Compatability mode'.. or just give up on it and use Chrome...

a little OT, and no offense to doc, but I'm glad for once that IE is having trouble w/ page code. Usually I have to tell Firefox to load a page under IE when issues occur. Drives me nuts when a site designer doesn't cater to Firefox considering how big a market share it has.

I'll stick my toes in the waters of the new interface and SageAlert in a bit when I get some time to tinker.

Well I'll be darned............

I was at my dads house earlier setting up SageAlert and the new webserver via VNC.

I had the problem using his laptop so I checked on the server and it was the same.

Now that I'm home I double checked and its working fine on both my own laptop and the server.

I did have a few beers last night...... but the screen shot shows it can't have just been my eyes!

I think I'll double check those screen shots........

It works on my system. I clicked on '[Auto-Delete Recordings]', found a recording to test, went to the Favorites Manager and set Auto Delete to 'No', then went back and refreshed the search results for auto deleted recordings. The recordings for that favorite were not displayed.

I'm too lazy to look for TFM I usually find one of Opus4's posts and look in his signature. Archive is a way to mark a recording as one that you want to keep around longer. Archived recordings aren't auto-deleted and can be filtered in or out of the recordings list.

Not that I know of. They're based on some of the original colors and icons in the SageTV 2.x default STV. At the time it was probably easier for users to understand them due to the similarity to the default STV.

The username/password are all lowercase in the previous realms.properties file. Maybe the Tiny Java Web Server wasn't case-sensitive...

Question Will WebServer Plugin work correctly with SageTV v6.6.2

Greetings

I was just curious if the WebServer Plugin for Sage functions properly under SageTV v6.6.2?

I haven't needed in the past, but now Comcast is doing it's screwy carp with it's digital channel migration and I'm trying to Force EPG updates.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Respectfully,

Ian

Just a little nitpick but I've noticed that when you mouse over the title of an item with a border the left inside corners square. The same thing happens when you mouse over the right side also.

ok... perhaps i'm retarded.. or maybe i just missed something crucial... but i can't for the life of me get any media to " play " from within the browser from localhost:8080/sage/Home

This was the same problem i had with the last version. I click on " watch (local file) " link, the page loads, and then it sits there with the " waiting for video "

Any idea on what's going wrong?

I have the latest VLC installed, and i'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.5.3

any help would be most appreciated.

You might want to try version .98 of VLC.

I can't seem to find vlc v .98.. also, why would i need to downgrade the software to get it to work with jetty? Is the jetty webapp outdated or something?

yeppers... VLC doesn't work in firefox in other versions.. i get a second of " no video " but then it plays... but the latest version of VLC doesn't work with firefox.. wierd...

---------=[ EDIT ]=-----------------

Just had a thought and perhaps someone could help me out with it.. I know of a java based, opensource MP3 player for websites. and was wondering how difficult it would be to add this player to this particular project for the music section of the site. could possibly be as easy as adding a little java script to pop-up the player, or perhaps have it embedded into the site where the search results are displayed.. just a thought...

If the developers want to look into it, here is the link:
h**p://flash-mp3-player.net/

it's available in several versions, free and fully customizable... could be nice to have a small |> play button next to each song

again, just an idea

Is there a sure way to get streaming transcoding to work predictably. I have a problem where transcoding will quit working for some unknown reason and I won't be able to get it working again until I stop and restart the SageTV service.

I know it uses vlc for transcoding. Is there a reason this was chosen over the built-in SageTV transcoder? I ask this because I see it recommended to use an old version of vlc such as 0.98 or 0.99. The problem with this is that the older versions are completely incompatible with HDPVR recordings. Particularly interlaced recordings.

I'm in a situation now where I want to be able to play video through the work proxy. This is not possible with Placeshifter but is possible going through the web interface. Any ideas?

VLC doesn't just transcode, it streams the video over the web as a streaming server. I believe the Sage transcoder is just a transcoder.

True, I hadn't thought about that.

I created a new thread for discussing Jetty-related items. Opus4 will be migrating several pages of comments from this thread, so please be patient and wait for that to happen before posting over there. Thanks!

razrsharpe, your url a couple of posts back might need to be update after the posts are moved.

Question

With the latest STV for Sage in place, we can now decide whether our video conversions are DELETED when the conversion to another video format is complete. Before this, you were limited to "replace existing video" - not an option if you're choosing a different location.

Any idea if there are plans to modify the web interface to allow this as well? I use the WebUI more than anything inside Sage itself because it's very clean and intuitive.

I am sure that others (once they realize this is an option in the Sage STV now) will also LOVE to see this update... I know it's been a long time since this great plugin was created - hard to improve on perfection, but this seems like the next step...
