Question STV Switcher

Hey ... Anyone think there is a way to create a simple plug-in that switches STV's? So, you basically have a Sage menu item that you select and then you are presented with a list of installed STV's? Just select the one you want and re-launch Sage (not desired, but probably required if possible at all) ...

OK, I know this is really more complex to do than I state, but just wondering if anyone of you developer types out there have thought about it ...

Thanks, T.

SageTV v2.1 and any customized STV's designed for v2.1 already have this feature. And, you don't even need to shut down or relaunch SageTV when making the change from one STV to another.

Thanks ... Still haven't taken the 2.1 plunge yet ... Am planning on getting a real HTPC Case and some silent fans and PSU. I figure when I rebuild, I'll move to 2.1.

For now, I am still on 2.0.20 with Nielm 1.8 ... and actually pretty darn happy. So, I should start reading the 2.1 manual and get a head start ... if 2.1 beats out what I have now live will be good ...

Thanks, T.

The same STV loading option is in 2.0 too, but perhaps not in all STVs.

Yea .. I just did some testing, bouncing from Nielm to MlbDude2 to Malore to Original2 and back ... I did notice some required a re-launch reset the menus and that the change does not change the background ....

Very Interesting ...

I don't think it's a dumb question. I helped a friend install Sage just this weekend and one of the first things that popped up was that he wanted to use an advanced STV like Cayars and his wife and little girl really needed something like the original or mlbdudes MCE type. The command as it sits in the advanced options is nested a little deep for the family crowd. Who wants them messing about in there anyway, heh. What would really be nice is have it as an optional menu item that people that need it could even put on their top menu.

Point taken ... Actually great point on being able to add the menu item whereever you like ...
