Also Nvidia/Doesn't fix when switching to Intervideo

I also use the NVidia codec, no post processing. I tried switching to Intervideo midstream and reloading the video player, that didn't help.

I haven't tried starting and running with Intervideo.

Okay, I think I may have found the problem. If it is what I think it is it's fixable and not codec/hardware dependent. Stay tuned...

meekell_alpha_0_3_5 Release Notes:

* Recordings menu Sorting is fully functional.
* "Manage Favorites" button added to Recordings menu.
* "Shows to Record" button added to Recordings menu. (work still to be done to Scheduling menu)
* "Rec" icon is displayed in the Recordings menu when a show is recording.
* Added new icon to the guide "On Air" which displays the show currently being watched.
* Updated the guide's show info panel to match more closely to the Teehan+Lax theme.
* Added recording notification to the time bar in the OSD to show when a show is recording. This only shows up if it's a manual recording or a favorite recording (not sure if it works for Intelligent Recordings). -Still need to add for shows that are scheduled but not recording.
Last release of the year! I'm not sure there's been anything changed to fix the problem that some of you were experiencing yet.

You may want to check out here.
The setup should be the same.

At this point comskip is fully functional if you have it setup to automatically scan. I'll add manual buttons real soon.

meekell,

First off, you're doing an excellent job with this STV. I have one issue though... When I have a scheduling conflict, it pops up EVERY time the screen changes. It's a conflict of a favorite recording. There are two other manual recordings set to record during the favorite. It comes up and asks me if I want to cancel the two manual recordings. But there's no way to tell it not to record the favorite. I can hit "close" and it will go away, but it will popup again the next time the screen changes.

- Josh

[EDIT]Also, I just noticed that whatever is mapped to the "power" command will not shutdown/sleep Sage. Alt+F4 will work but not ctrl+z or anything else mapped to "Power" (only using this STV)[/EDIT]

i'm not sure if that video off problem is related to your STV or a sage 2.1 problem.. here's some other people with similar issues:

Still Having Problem with 2.2/0.3.5

Meekell:

I am running the 2.2 beta. I have the video off problem with the 0.3.5 as well as the previous versions. As you said-it the update (while very smooth!) might not fix the video problem.

No problem with the Cayars or Original STV.

For now go to the Advanced section of the settings menu (options from the main menu) and disable the conflict popup. This will display any conflicts on the main menu instead of using the popup. This method doesn't offer conflict resolution yet, but soon.

I'll fix this for the next release.

Yes. I realized this also.

This was posted earlier...

If you put the icons in a directory named "weather" and place this in the "stvs\teehan-lax" directory and remove the "mlbdude/right_image_root=some\\path this should work. This is the default directory. You should be able to specify any directory by changing the property entry above to point the the parent directory of the weather folder. Make sure you have your weather images in the "weather" folder (very important). I just tested the default way I mentioned above and it worked great as soon as I restarted sage. There's no smoke and mirrors here. It does work.
Hopefully this helps...

So I finally setup this STV on my main system, and now I can't use it. I use a pvr 350 and I'm losing the output after about 5-10 minutes into a show. This does not happen with the standard stv. Basically the 350 quits updating, and seems to pause/crash, but the video card out (the normal computer screen) continues as normal. I can only sometimes get the 350 back online by cycling the enable/disable in the menu, but most the time it doesn't work and requires a sage restart.

It's important to note that Sage itself doesn't crash, only the 350, and again, I have no issues with the standard stv, or any other stv for that matter.

That said, it still works great on my MVP, which I suppose is a little strange.

If there's any info I can give you, let me know.

I wonder if this is somehow related to the problem some of the others were dealing with? I am not sure exactly what may be the problem since I can't seem to replicate it but I will be offering a new release real soon where I've made several changes to the loading and refreshing of the osd. These changes have greatly improved the performance on the mvp. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the other problems will be fixed as well. I am not doing anything radically different from the original stv when drawing the osd so I not sure why this would work any differently.

Hmm, well I just thought I'd mention it in case no one had. It probably _is_ related, but I think Frey has been so busy preparing for CES they haven't had much time to work on this kind of thing, and I haven't heard anything from them regarding bug reports I've filed.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to your next version, you've really been doing an awesome job with this project.

ps. are you using a 350? the way your post is worded, it sounds like you are. maybe i'm just misinterpreting it.

Nope. In fact I know very little about the 350 output. If there is something I should consider in the stv that may be critical to the functionality of the 350 please let me know.

Nothing I know specifically yet. I'll give your new version a try when you are ready and let you know how it works. I'm also working with Cayars to try and find a work around for the 350 end of file problem. If we can track that down, I'll/he'll let you know what we find.

Thanks for pointing it out. I don't use this feature so I had no way of testing it. I've fixed this for the next release. Let me know if there's any problems with it.

It's been awhile since I've checked out this forum - I can see quite a bit of work has been done on this. We were recently at CES in Las Vegas where we had the opportunity to meet and chat with the folks at Frey. It was exciting to see what the latest incarnation of Sage offers. We're currently talking to Frey about getting a copy of Studio to build out a next generation version of what was in our report for this year. If this happens we hope that the users of meekell's work would be willing to take our next generation stv for a spin.

Meekell, maybe you can give us an idea of Studio's learning curve? Obviously this STV has been in the works for quite some time. We are looking at putting a team of people on this - some working of graphic assets, some on overall experience and others on actually making it work. Do you have a sense of man-hours you may have spent on this?

It was unfortunate that the STV you have been working on wasn't fully loaded on the box at CES - would have loved to see it in action.

geoff
