Hmmm, I am almost 100% positive that I had shut down both the service and the client before even opening the files to do the edits. This is why I thought it was odd and commented about it...

And, I could be mistaken too...after all I did miss the options menu choice.

Thanks for the info!

So since I haven't been able to get cc working on my machine, I'll ask you a few questions about this flickering. Does it occur everytime a new character is printed? new line? I haven't seen the cc in action so bare with me. It sounds like a repainting/refreshing problem though. Can someone explain to me when this flickering is occuring?

I am assuming the problem is not spcifically STV dependant so I'll describe mine in detail. There seems to be two ways CC is displayed. For shows that seem to have been recorded and close captions added afterwards, such as movies or series shows, the close captions are real time with no lag and they flash on the screen line by line. These display fine for me. While live shows, possibly others, have the CC showing up later than realtime, giving me the impression they are being inputted by a person, these scroll as they appear. These are the ones that flicker. As they are scrolling on and off the screen, they flash away and back quickly, constantly.

Hope that helps some.

Go to the General Settings. At the bottom is Weather Setup. Try setting it up this way.

Make sure you have a Weather.txt, and a getWeather3.class file in the STVs//teehan-lax//weather directory. If you don't download the zip file again. The properties settings I'm using are:
mlbdude/weather_exe=
mlbdude/weather_exe_java=true
mlbdude/weather_file=\\STVs\\teehan-lax\\weather\\Weather.txt
mlbdude/weather_provider=Weather.com
mlbdude/weather_url=
mlbdude/weather_zip=USWA0395

I considered doing this but I'm not sure how it would work. The up/down/right/left are always in use in the guide table. I could force a button to shift focus to the description, but the intuitiveness of the menu lessens.

Strange...I just tested it and it worked fine on my end. Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm going to work on the weather thing in a minute, mine stays at loading too.

But first - a feature request: Would it be possible to have an icon, or border, or something that designates if a show is set to 'don't like'? It's nice to have that at a glance in order to tame the intelligent recordings. Also, similar thread of thought, but I can't seem to set don't like without going into the details screen, would that be possible to add?

I'll also take a look at that pictures thing.

When I first read you prepared things for the dynamic menu, I was worried about how it would impact the interface, but you did a great job there. It really is seamless. The only thing I can see here is that only seeing 3 items at once may not be ideal for people running high resolutions. Will it be possible to adjust this?

Edit:

I checked the pictures thing, and I was getting the same behavior. Then I checked my command links, and I didn't have my stop button linked to anything. I re-learned that command, and it works fine now. One this I noticed though, the pictures are squished horizontally, very slightly, but noticable.

I have tried a lot of things, but still can't get the weather screen to work. I have a weather.txt in the teehan-lax directory, but it's blank. First I noticed that the properties file was pointing to \\STVs\\teehan-lax\\weather, and I had things in \\STVs\\OriginalV2\\teehan-lax\\weather, so I re-unzipped the STV to the right directory, and still nothing.

So the weather_exe= should be blank? How is it starting the java program then? Where is the getWeather.exe supposed to be? I feel that this is my problem, but can't figure out where it goes....where's yours meekell?

Edit 2:

Ok, so .class files are like programs. I figured that out on my own. But I'm still getting a blank weather.txt file. Any ideas?

I actually intended to show the two above and the two below, so a total of 5. Right now there's only 4 items that are always present; 3 if you disable the weather. I didn't want duplicates showing up. It'll be expandable to five.

The fullscreen view is almost verbatum from the original. Do you notice this in the original as well?

Try deleting all of the mlbdude/weather... entries from the properties. When there is no mlbdude/weather_zip entry Sage will prompt you to automatically setup the weather and it will add the correct properties for you. I've bypassed the .bat file by performing similar commands inside of the stv. That's why there's no exe entry necessary if you have weather_exe_java=true. I was hoping to make it self contained and eliminate all the weather probs. If you're going to be using the weather in other stvs as well you probably won't want to use the automatic setup. I appologize if I've screwed up everyone's weather. We'll get it working!

OK, where is the place we are really supposed to put this mod? I've always extracted my STV's to the OriginalV2 directory, as that's where they usually say go. Apparently this one is expecting to be in /STVs/...

Do I really need to stick it there, or would I be better off changing all the //STVs/tee* to include the originv2 directory to??

No, the original is not squished. It looks like an aspect ratio problem, but I can't change the aspect ratio here. Any ideas?

Sorry, I should have mentioned I tried that. To be honest, the only weather I've gotten to work is the WRS. I've never gotten any STV to use the normal weather correctly. I'm not sure where this leaves me...

Iin the first post I recommended to install everything in the SageTV//STVs directory. I don't think it matters a whole lot where you install it as long a the teehan-lax directory is with stv file. There's not a whole lot in common with the OriginalV2 stv and the meekell stv as far as look and feel, and I don't think I use any of the images in the directory so I figured it should have it's own home in the STVs folder.

I'll look at it now...Hmmm...The image placeholder is set to preserve aspect ratio. It looks fine on my end. Can anyone else confirm this?

Try this. Go to the start menu and click "Run..." Type: "cmd" to get the command prompt. Type: cd "c:/program files/frey technologies/sagetv/stvs/teehan-lax/weather" <= the location on your computer surrounded in quotes. Now type: java getWeather3 yourzipcode test.txt and hit enter. If your java runtime environment is set up correctly you should get somekind of output. Play around with this to see if you can download the info into test.txt or whatever you want to call it. The arguments for getWeather3 look like this: getWeather3 <zip> <txtfile> ["s"/"m"] [#days]. Hope this helps...

when I run the command line like you said, I get the following error:

exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: getweather3

any ideas?

Edit:

Ok, my CLASSPATH is screwed up. I'm working on getting it permenant.

If I use:

set CLASSPATH=.;c:\progra~1\java\1.5.0\bin

I can get an output for that cmd session. But if I close the cmd, and restart, it doesn't work. I found the environment variable in the system properties, but I can't get it to stick. I think a restart is in order, but Battlestar Galactica is on. I'm not in THAT big of a hurry to get the weather.

Crashless, right click on 'My Computer' and select properties. Go to the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button. In the System Variables box you should see "CLASSPATH." If you don't see it add it. Edit your classpath and it should stick.

Ooops I noticed you tried this. Maybe a restart is in order.

YAY! I got weather to work! Ok, if you run 'java getWeather ZIPCODE test.txt'
and get the response:

Code:
exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: getweather3
Then remove the CLASSPATH from the environment variables. I should warn all those thinking about removing it to write it down first. In case it breaks something. But it definitly worked on both my client and server.

On another note, Meekell, is there anything you changed back in this version in the media player parts? I got the first 350 freeze I've had in a while again today. It froze while watching a show, no UI on screen, just froze while playing like last time.

Can't wait for being able to set watched and don't like from the recording screens.

Oh yeah, I can't seem to get the 'live tv' button to work. I use it to get the currently playing show to go full screen when I'm in a menu. IE: I start a show, then go back to a menu for a second, I hit 'live tv' which brings up the current show full screen immediately. Currently with this STV, I have to go back to the show in the recordings screen, select it, and hit watched again. That's WAY too many steps. Any way to get that command to work? Thanks for listening.

Other than that, everything is looking awesome! Really coming along.
