Sage 2.1 - Clients cannot playback Video

I have three clients in my network attaching to a SageTV server.

All clients and server were upgraded to 2.1 this weekend and the clients have been giving this message ever since when I try to play a recorded show or pick a show from the LiveTV Guide.

This is the error…

There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
Sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0x80004005):
There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback.

Any thoughts?

How did you have the service setup before? Did you assign it to run as a certain user or did you leave it to run as System?

if you need service support, there may be ways to get it working for you. Otherwise, you should be fine without it.

I just let the install of Sage 2.1 set it up for me.

By default, it set up the service to run on the local system account with auto startup of the service.

I have no overriding need for the service at this point, I was just trying out the latest and greatest whiz-bang from the boys at Frey...

Playback problem with Client app

I am using the Sage TV service. I'm having the same problem but would really like to keep the service so that shows will still record if the interface is not running. Please help.

Has there been any resolution to this? I would still like to run a client and SageTV as a service, but I'm having the same problems with 2.2.8.

Have you tried to set the sage service to start using a real user ? You have to do the change through the administrative-tools -> services as the sage service wizzard doesn't do it properly.

Are you sure you are doing it correctly? I have been running the service with an account with a password I created. I've configured it both from the Services control panel and from the Sage tool. I have not had this issue. I run a 2 PC Clients and a MVP client on the box. I have done this since they first created the service.

Maybe I did it wrong.
-I'm running XP Pro
-I opened Administrative tasks>Services
-I found "SageTV" (I couldn't find a service called "SageTVService", maybe that was my mistake?)
-I changed the properties to "automatically" and I set it to run as an already existing user.
-I restarted.

Any suggestions.

I'll have to take a look at it when I get home to give you the exact name of the service. Make sure the user is in the Administrator group. Make sure the service is stopped before you do this. Make sure you verify that the user name is correct. ( Check name) It should show up as Servername\user name. Once this is done you should also be able to do this from the Sage service app. I had also disabled/enabled the service thru the Sage app. When you do it thru the Sage app you need to use the Server name\user name.
