I knew I should not have upgraded!

Everything was working fine on V2.0 but I had to tempt fate and upgrade to v2.1 and now nothing works.

I upgraded both my server and client by first renaming the FreyTechnologies directories to a new name. Then installed v2.1

I then copied my wiz.bin file from the v2.0 over to the v2.1 before ever starting 2.0. This brought over my favorites and everything. I got the client talking to the server.

Now I actually tried to watch tv. Nothing, nada, zip, just a black screen. No errors, warnings, nothing. So I renamed all the directories again and moved in my v2.0 directories. Started them up, client talks to server. Went to watch tv and get a video error, cannot connect to overlay. I went and checked my video options, and they are set to VMR. So I changed them to overlay, sleep, watchTV, same error, cannot connect to overlay. I did not install any new decoders or anything on my client. Ideas?

thanks,

You need to reinstall 2.0 back ontop of your 2.0 installation. There are certain directshow updated that 2.1 installed. The 2.0 installer will register the old ones.

For 2.1, are you running in Service more?

Did you copy the properties file too? It contains all the configuration info (lineup, sources, tuners, decoders, other settings).

I did not copy the properties, I guess that is why I lost all my tuner stuff.

I am in the process of a clean install. Ran hwclear, reinstalling everything from scratch. Then will copy over the wiz.bin and property files and try again.

thanks,

hwclear in an application from Hauppauge that will remove all drivers and such for their hardware.

I found something interesting just now. I manage both my server and client via XPPro remote desktop. I used to be able to watch the video via the remote desktop. It was slow and jerky, but I could verify it was working. Now I cannot do that at all. I just get the black screen. When I went in and turned on my projector it worked fine. Guess I need to go buy a 17" LCD flatpanel to have on the computer also to verify everything works.

Don't know what is different between v2.1 and v2.0, but that is one thing.

thanks for the suggestions all. It is good to know that you have to re-install 2.0 over the top of 2.1 to get it to work again.

Make sure you're running VMR9, Overlay won't go over remote desktop AFAIK.
