How To Set Thread Priority for SageTV?
Hi. New SageTV user here (~2 months).
Love it so far. I've had only a few problems that were pretty easy to resolve (except one). I use my HTPC to run my supervision software also. They seem to be fine running on the same machine, with one small problem. When I am reviewing captured pics from the supervision software, CPU usage is high (near 100%), and this causes some stuttering to the file that is currently being recorded by SageTV. Setting SageTV's thread priority to High (in Task Manager) remedies my problem. But whenever SageTV is restarted it returns to Normal thread priority. Is it possible to get SageTV to start with High thread priority? Last edited by beckerhead; 10-28-2004 at 04:22 PM. |

Maybe changing this entry in the properties file?:
ui/rendering_threads_priority_offset=-3 Anyone? |

Change the shrortcut that starts sage to run it with high priority:
cmd /c start /high "c:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTv\Sagetv.exe" (do start/help in a command window for more...) |

out of curiosity...does anyone notice any enhancement to starting sage at a higher priority? less skipping, faster channel changes, etc?
I.

I only see an occasional problem when set to normal. There are some lost frames in the show that SageTV was recording, while I am reviewing what my security camera software has captured (I am using SupervisionCam, BTW). It is because they are fighting for CPU resources, I guess. When I playback the mpeg, there is some slight jittering that coincides with when I was flipping thru the security pictures.
Setting SageTV's thread priority to high alleviates this problem for me. It may be slowing down the rate at which I can flip thru my security pics, but I don't notice. Otherwise, I don't notice any "increased performance". Last edited by beckerhead; 10-29-2004 at 10:01 PM. |

What about for the Sage Service? Anyone played around with that priority for capturing TV and sending to Clients?

I tried experimenting with FireDaemon to create my own instance of SageTVservice. That program also allow any login account to start the service and still interact with the desktop... Solving the problem with using exetuner. But unfortunately I was not able to get it to work at all... Is there any way to get FireDaemon to work???
