General Question
Hello,
Here is my config. My PVR system could use 2 computers. PC1 Powerfull computer far away from home cinema PC2 "small perf. pc" P3 500Mhz Home Cinema with beamer etc. I own a PVR350 and a creative mpeg2 decoder card. I guess I could use a "client/server" system, but witch one? I already tried to use PC2 as stand alone PVR system, but performences are poor. I tried with gbpvr but PVR350 drivers has problem with TV-Out OSD. Can I use SageRecorder and Sage Client with my config? Wat could be the problem in this case? Any idea could be helpfull. Thanks |

Secondly, a 500Mhz P3 is really not enough for playing MPEGs and for running Sage... My 1ghz Via EPIA M10000 only just manages it and the GUI can be a bit slow... With sage, recording takes hardly any CPU, it is the playback that requires the CPU to decode the MPEG video and display the GUI... Some graphics cards have MPEG2 hardware accellerators (my M10000 has one) which can reduce the CPU usage a little with compatiable MPEG2 decoders (55% on my system for playback alone) The only exception is if you have a hardware playback device like the Tv-out of the PVR350, or the Xcard (but Sage only supports the GUI on the -350, and there are frequent issues reported) Although it works, I am planning to replace my system with something a lot faster because I am fed up with the slow UI... |
