nVidia drivers

I just loaded up the 66.72 drivers for my GeForceFX 5800 and now my sagetv UI appears to be broken. All I get is a light blue UI and I can't seen any buttons or anything. Anyone know what is going on here? It appears that any driver above 62.20 has the same problem?

Have you tried the 61.77 non-beta drivers?

Am I the only tool running 61.77 which are the latest official drivers from the nVidia site?

Have you tried 66.81? http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/

BTW, what advantages are there to running a beta driver? I heard that the 65+ version will include better DVI HDTV support. I am hoping that is true when they come out.

I'm running 61.77, but will probably switch to the 65.90 Quadro drivers when I get set up in my HTPC.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

66.93 have support for NvVPP in hardware mode
it is a huge difference from the earlier 66.77 or 66.81
where it appeared to run in software mode

I tried 66.93 drivers but I still get the same problem. If I enabled 3D acceleration my menus become blank and I can only see the blue background. I can go to LiveTV which works but can't do much else since I can't see any menu text/images. It's quite frustrating because SageTV doesn't work as well for me when 3D acceleration isn't enabled. I used to have an ATI 9800 Pro and all worked fine and then I upgraded to a PNY 6800 GT and since then been having these problems.

I have that problem as well if I start turning off optimazations in my video card driver settings
I have no idea why or which one is causing this but yeah
I also had to leave most settings at default

I wonder what the problem is, as well
and funny cause we both have PNYs

what you running now?

kny3twalker,

I'm not sure what you mean by what I'm running now but I've applied the tweaks that vpopovic has detailed on AVS Forums in the Image Quality of Nvidia 6800 Series Cards thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...highlight=6800). There are a few differences tho. I haven't soft/hard modded my card and I'm only using Lancsoz 2x resize in FFDShow. Is that what you were asking for?

yeah I figured that was the problem
you need to turn the optimazations back on and the new drivers work fine

it was those settings that caused me issues as well

Did you happen to know which optimization was the magic bullet? Or did you just roll of them back? I can't even remember what the defaults were.

This is pretty common. If you switch from auto (source) to your actual source, you can usually resolve this. Believe it or not....

cannot remember now
but as I remember I turned off the ones in rivatuner first and I was able to get back the text in SageTV for the most part
there were some some others like th eforce mipmaps
that I also turned off
I was just uninstall drivers and reinstall
run SageTV just to check
then try out some until you lose the text again

i think I know of the problem Mr. Patel refurrs to. There was an option I had chosen in the Cayar's STV that killed my displays when using 3d accellerations. I think it is a feature from one of the STVs he used (IE Mlbdude or Malore). Not sure which STV it was....doesnt matter....they all have made awsome contributions and I wont complain. OK so here is the setting I had to set so I can get my menus. Go to your setup menu and detailed setup. Find somewhere in there an option for "show zap2it logo". I had the option turned off. Probably under enhancements and logo options. Try to ensure that "show zap2it logo" is turned on. I have noticed on my pc that if I turn that option off....the video card for some reason has problems rendering the menus. Hope that helps
