MX-500 Remote Setup

I have a question regarding the setup of the MX-500 remote for use with Sage. I have gone thru the commands and selected 18 that I would like to control using the device buttons on the mx-500. My line of thinking was that I could set the remote up to control a device that I do not have using the preprogrammed codes then train Sage to respond to the resulting IR codes. Seemed simple enough, right? Well I ran into two problems.

1. It was very difficult to find a device that utilized all 20 device buttons.
2. When I did find a device that had codes assigned to a device button I would test it using Sage's Commands menu and it would either not acknowledge it or it would appear to cycle thru random codes every time I pushed the button or held it down.

This leaves me asking where do I get IR codes to use to assign to additional features within Sage? I’ve been using the Hauppauge remote for sometime and sure I can train the MX-500 to do all of the same features but there are many more I would like to add. Not to mention the fact that one of my TV remotes uses the same codes as the Hauppauge remote so every time I power off my TV Sage pulls up the main menu.

I think you get the idea. I know that there are many of you using the MX-500 including Dan so I’m hoping there is an easy solution to this issue.

Thanks,
HC

If it makes a difference I’m using the USB-UIRT.
