PVR 350 DivX and TV-out

Ok, I have read some threads about the fact that it is not possible to playback AVI's and DiVX's with SageTV on the TV out of a Hauppauge PVR 350.

But... if that is not possible, than how is it possible to show SageTV's user interface via this TV out? If that is possible, than I would think playing AVI's should also be possible... (?)

The Hauppauge drivers allow for an OSD to be output of its TV out port. Its drivers and hardware do not allow for any other kind of video.

In the linux world, the developers of the open source, and backward engineered drivers for the 350, have been written to allow video to be displayed through the OSD code of the output. At this time the drivers are buggy and slow, but they have it working. The problem is the card is not designed to output the OSD with any hardware accelleration. Since every card today has hardware accelleration as part of the drivers, most people take for granted the speed that windows are rendered.
Long story short, the OSD code for the 350 does not allow this in Windows.

What MCE version? AFIAK there's no MCE card with a TV-out.

As for the linux thing, didn't they just twist the 350's OSD support into some sort of makeshift framebuffer?

Sorry, you're right. MCE products have a special card/motherboard (?) for the TV out...

They probably just use a normal video card TV out.
