Integrated TV-out???

Looking at building a inexpensive Client box. Are any of the mobos (or SFFs) with integrated tv-out worthwhile from a PQ perspective (no gaming) or am I alot better off with a 9600 connected via the component adapter to my SDTV? Btw, I’m presuming ATI’s component adapter won’t work on its mobos VGA/DVI???

It would be hard to say for certain, but I would think that it is fair to say on average that onboard will never be as good as a card.

But real world differances? Who knows.

shared memory is a big

onboard video usually sucks and 9600 NP are not that expensive
I would in fact look at a 9600 PRO since both cards are fairly cheap

and not many onbaord video cards have DVI output
most are VGA and svideo
the component adapter from ATI is made for 9500 PRO and up
and works from the DVI port
not VGA
I do not believe there is a 9500 PRO or 9600 NP integrated video card

From a tv-out (via ATI component adapter to my SDTV) perspective, is it worth moving from a $70 card to a $105+ card? What advantage does it have?

I actually prefer NV's cards (5200 or more probably a 5700) but thought that since my Sony WEGA has component in, ATI's component adapter might make me switch on this box.

Yea, the best I've run across is the ATI mobos which is a 9200. I hoped that ATI's adapter might work (has VGA and DVI) but I can't seem to find a yes or no anywhere - so I assume not.

You would have to give the model numbers so one could see the spec.
If it is merly a faster cpu and memory then probably not.

This 9600 at NEWEGG: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...164-023&depa=0 is what I was looking at along with the adapter.

Here's a 9600PRO http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-291&depa=1

I probably need to poke around a bit and see what others experience is with the component adapter on an SDTV. I've just assumed its better than NV 5200/5700 using Svideo.

well that 9600 you posted looks like a POS
I would try to stay with a better company than Roswell
the sapphire looks much more promising

Thanks for the heads up on the brand...

I poked around and Sapphire and they are a bit more $$ but they make a 9550, 9600, and 9600PRO all of which seem compatible with the ATI adapter. Anything different between those cards that I should be looking at for my use (i.e. IOW what makes you say the pro is better in this case)?
