Choosing time for favorites to record?

Hi, I have my PC set to record a show for my son under favorites. The show comes on 3 times a day, at 3am 9am and 8pm. I want to just record the 3am show, but Sage doesnt seem to have this option under favorites, It records the 8pm since its the newest episode. I set up the program as a timed recording for mon-fri, but now it just says " timed recording" and I have no Idea what show it is. How can I set up this show as a fovorite and not have sage change to a kids show every night at 8pm when I am watching my shows? Thanks!

If they happen to air on different channels at those times, you can limit the fav to a specific channel. Otherwise you can look into using a cstom STV and set the Timeslot when the fav is allowed to record. I know mlbdude2 & MalDude have it, but I haven't tried nielm's. If you don't want to continue using one of those, just use it long enough to set the timeslot & then go back to your preferred STV -- the fav settings are internal to SageTV, not dependent on the STV you are currently using.

I have the same exact problem -- I would like to tell SageTV "pick the first occurence of the favorite as long as no conflicts". I have two tuners, so the conflicts are more or less gone and Sage still picks the favorite at the last showing for the day. Eg, if the show shows 3am , 5am and 9am it picks the 9am... WHY?!?!?

What show are you talking about? Take a look at each airing for a single day and list what the Show ID is for each airing. It is possible that 9am airing is actually the next episode, while the 3am & 5am airings are other older episodes, perhaps from yesterday. In this case, the 9am airing is the correct one to record since it is the first airing of a new episode.

Even if that isn't the case, I would like to see the name of the show & what the Show IDs are for each time slot.

So you're saying that *nothing* was being recorded during the 3am-?am timeslot when your favorite was first aired?

I believe that was what matterw was saying in the other thread where he mentionit happening to him: Sage not recording Favorite. Unless there is a bug, the only other thing I can think of is that they aren't all the same episodes. I remember similar things happening to others in the past & it does seem like a problem until you see what the episodes are.

you are correct, the new episode is the one at 8pm and the earlier ones are rebrodcasts from the previous day. I would like to be able to record the rebrodcast and not the new episode since it comes on at 8pm.

If there are no conflicts for that 8pm airing, I believe you are pretty much limited to what I first said for this: use one of the custom STVs that will let you set the timeslot when the favorite is allowed to record. You can switch back to any other STV & the timeslot setting will remain.

If the 8pm show is always a new first run, you could also try setting it for reruns only. Then it should record one of the other rebroadcasts in the other time slots. However, if they have any reruns in the 8pm time slot it might still try then at some point.

Would depend if it had already recorded a rerun of that episode at one of the other times before, in which case it should not bother with the 8pm reruns.

Hmm, first time I've actually found a use for the reruns only setting. I've always wondered why anyone would want to use that option.
