Question Probs using fixed uk_rt grabber

Hi all - I have a prob with getting XMLTV and the uk_rt grabber to work. Maybe someone can help me..?

I have installed XMLTV on a PC that is connected to the internet. I have the XMLTV.exe with the fixed uk_rt grabber. This gives me the .xml data file. I've popped this into Excel and everything looks in order - although I am no XML expert. I can see times, prog names with descriptions. I then copy this file to the sagetv directory of my media pc which runs sage but is not (yet) connected to the internet - maybe this is the root of my problem.

I've followed the XMLTV 'how to' in the forums and again everything looks in order. However, when I come to getting the epgdata.xml file into sage I get a "please wait while the channel lineup is downloaded for the xmltv plugin" messsage and sage stops doing anything. I've selected the TV tuner to use the aerial, the programming guide to use cable with zip=00000, then slected XMLTV plugin and then the "please wait..." message pops up. Not sure what is going on - I've seen a couple of other people have this problem but no one offers a solution. I've trawled through the forums, but I can't see anything relevant.

btw, while sage gives the "please wait..." message I can go into explorer and delete the epgdata.xml file which makes me think Sage isn't even reading the file.

Thanks in advance for your help (i hope I'm not being a numb-nut)

This happens if the XML file is not totally compliant to what the SAGE XMLTV plugin expects.

You will find that while it is saying to wait you can press back repeatedly.

Go back and see the xmltv lineup has been created. Look at the channel setup and also go into the guide to see if programme data has been inserted.

You may find that it is so.

Also keep in mind that with the new data file contains 14 days worth of info and goes to around 10Mb. On my machine 2.8GHz P4 took almost 1 min to parse. So if you machine is slower it could well take a few minutes.

I was getting this too.
By default the grabber calls the file data.xml it need to be called epgdata.xml. You can change this to be the default by going into configuration and clicking on the 'save as' tab

I have 2Ghz PC and I have waited 10 mins for the import to happen. No joy.

After waiting this time, I have skipped back to the channel setup where there are no channels for me to select with the green dots.

Therefore I reckon the .xml file is in the wrong format. Is there a way I can test this?
