Doing a data dump of the EPG data at regular intarvals is easy as well as capturing a recording request via an HTTP connection. I am waiting until 2.1 is out before I comment too much on this topic.

That comment alone was enough for me to draw my conclusions

Hmmm.....Interesting. This brings the next question: What time frame are we looking at for 2.1?

(Sorry I had to)

I am sure 2.1 will be out right after it is done. At that point I should have time to look back into the MVP items.

Finally was able to get the software installed last night. Than You again for your hard work on this. I could not get at the recorded shows or at least not through the recorded shows tab. HOWEVER went to Videos and going straight to favorites just is awesome. Not only did it find my recorded shows I have whole seasons that I had downloaded and was residing in another hard drive that it pulled up. I also like the faster no thumbs interface. There are definitely bugs, and its definitely not a finished product, but I am going to be using this instead of the standard interface from now on. Its far far better. Again thank you. At the very least I owe someone a beer, much less a nice dinner for your work!

Can't get recordings.xml

I have installed mlbdude2 1.8.7 and enabled the data dump with:

mlbdude/data_dump=true

but I'm still not getting a recordings.xml file in my SageTV directory. Consequently, I get no recordings on my MVP. I have restarted SageTV multiple times, verified the presence of the above line in sage.properties, and started/stopped recording several shows. Any idea why this file wouldn't get created?

Matt

MediaMVP Question:

Does the MediaMVP have a power button so that when I am not using it it will not keep the server on? And if it does power down then when I power it on and the server is not up will be like SageTVClient and reattempt the connect periodically? With SageTV this works fine as I have Wake ON Lan enabled on the server so it will wake up the system and then eventually connect and work.

I have a 5% off coupon at Buy.com and I am thinking of getting two of these...$83.29 after coupon and free shipping...not a bad deal.

John

i use the mvp as my primary client for viewing programming. i am excited about trying this UI.

I have been using nielm for about 8 weeks now and like it alot.

when I examined the PROP file there wasn't a mlbdude/data_dump= line in it. i tried adding one with the TRUE indicator and did not get a recordings.xml file. I insured that sage was removed (not sleeping) before i made my edits. how long should sage be running before it writes the recordings.cml file?

i then downloaded and installed MLBDUDE2 v 1.8.5 and it did install, but didn't add a DATA_DUMP line either. I tried adding one with a FALSE then TRUE setting to no avail...

thoughts?

Red face

I'm a newbie to the MediaMVP. I would like to set mine up to match Sage as closely as possible. I finally have my family working Sage in the living room without problems and they like it. We just got a MVP and want to add it to one of the bedrooms. Will this MOD make it look and work the same as the server? If not what is it missing/different? Also, is there a procedure for getting it working? I have read this thread, but I am still confused on all of the issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated by myself and my family. Thanks

Callender,

I have not purchased and MVP yet, but I am planning to. I believe that at this point the SageTVMod only presents the recorded files ( which I believe also includes any currently recording shows). So you will not see the EPG, be able to schedule recordings, or play DVDs, etc. So it is very limited at this point.

But again I have not used this so I do not know this for a fact.

John

2.1 has plugins which allow the full SageTV experience to be ported to any other device. Users are already building (built) implementations for the MVP using them.

The 'mod' that is being referenced is simply a change(s) in the html files that are viewed by the MVP. As of right now (and for the forseable future...) THIS approach is limited...

I can say that other approaches may be possible in the future...

EDIT: I see Narflex already posted...

What's that best way to set up the MediaMVP with only a basic Sage 2.0 servier and no other clients?

I don't see this in sage.properties. Does this work with the latest beta? DOes this require a certain .stv file?
