How to lose all your IR, take two.
So, this happened to me before, when I disabled IR I lost 120GB of stuff I had recorded. This time, I didn't disable IR, but because sage crashes my machine every single day at least once, I suppose it had to happen that wiz.bin would get corrupted, and on reboot, it decided that IR was no longer enabled (along with every single one of my other settings being reset), and deleted everything. This is a horrible misfeature, and very very badly implemented.
I'm just so unhappy with how all this is working. I've had sage with a 350 and a 250 for so long, but things just don't seem to get better. I swapped my 250-16 for a 250-15 so they'd work together. Sage has had the benefit over other products of "just working" but I can't rely on it to be up to record things since it crashes if it's recording something, and about to record something else, and I'm watching something or forgot to make sage stop playback (pausing is not enough!). I've upgraded drivers every time there was some hope it'd make things better, but things only got worse. I went back to "stable" drivers, since having a matching 250 & 350 means I may not need the newest (beta) drivers, but ran into bugs that had gone away with newer drivers. Ok, so granted right now I'm just really frustrated with all this, but I've been putting up with crashes every time I watch something while something is recording! The HAF isn't remotely positive at this point, either. And now everything that wasn't a favorite gets deleted. Right now I think we'd both almost agree to sell it all on ebay and buy a tivo. Almost. I've tried ASUS motherboards, VIA motherboards, processors up to the XP2100+, up to a GB of RAM. I want this to work or I wouldn't have spent this much time on it, but I'm just kind of grumpy at this point. I think Sage is a neat product, and I like the idea of how it's supposed to work, and I love it when it does work, I just wish it worked better. |

one thing you could try not sure if you want though
is run sageTVclient on the same box with the server so playback does effect the recording when you have trouble and as far as a I know the VIA is not a good chipset to run with the pvr 350 have you tried a nforce2 by chance .......... |

IR configuration is set in the Sage.Properties file. In the old days before 2.0, Sage would never automatically delete anything. Users did not like that so they changed it to delete anything that was not a certain type of recording. You can change this back to the old way though with a properties update.
