RAM usage goes through roof when watching TV.

Im running SageTV latest version, registered and Windows 2003 Server. Athlon 2100 with 768megs of RAM.

When Sage is on screen at a show is on my RAM usage goes steadily up until 100% is filled over a 7-10 minutes span. Then my machine performance is horrible.

What could be causing this? When i close sage it instantly frees up 500 or so megs.

What decoders are you using? What is your audio and video card and are you using the latest drivers?

The video card is onboard my shuttle xpc and is the SiS 740 driver 3.61a
audio is also onboard C-Media (CMI8738/C3DX)
capture card is Hauppage Win-TV PVR PCI II (250)

Video Encoder: Tried both Elecard trial version and InterVideo NonCSS VD for Hauppage.

Audio Intervideo NonCSS AD For Hauppage. The moonlight codec gives me an error.

all configurations give me the memory issue.

Do you have Norton AntiVirus, by any chance? There was a recent note that it can eat all your memory while playing a video in SageTV for some reason. You can set it to exclude all your video directories & possibly the SageTV dir too.

Thanks Opus that did the trick, I turned off Norton and my memory usage has stayed stable.

Stupid anti-virus software...damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Glad that worked... I didn't come up with it, but it was finally beaten into me, so I won't forget it!
