comskip not showing comercials

Trying to figure out why when I record a show, it shows comskip has run because it give me an option to delete comskip files when you open up that program to watch it, but there are no marked commercials. But if I hit the delete comskip files in the same window and then hit run comskip manually, it then selects and shows commercial breaks in the bar. According to the log file both show the same ini and exe file and location bing used.
Anyone have any idea why when run after a recording it does not show the commercial breaks, but after a delete and a manual run it does?
Thanks
Wayne

I have a similar issue however it only happens maybe 10% of the time. I did wind up getting the developer version since it's needed for h.264 files and seemed to work better for OTA files anyway. I am tempted to use the log file and tuning guidance to play around and get it to grab commercials I know it misses every night. In your case the log files might be worth looking at.

I just changed SageTV servers and I see this some on the new server. However most of those recordings are the Olympics right now and watching the recording confirms that many times they aren't actually showing a logo. It's actually pretty strange.

I know I have had the developer version previously, but I think I probably downloaded the regular version. I should probably go back and copy all my old comskip files from the old server and see if that doesn't help.

See attached pictures of the log files. As stated run by comskip and manual run. Both are using the exact same comskip and the ini file that I have. So what makes the difference with sage starting it vrs a manual starting of it. In all recordings after sage runs it, it shows the CS symbol, but no breaks in the time line and when I open up a program it shows the delete comskip button. So sage has done a little and then stopped for what ever reason. I have tried one half hour shows and one hour shows and that makes no difference. And if I point comship to my c:/ comskip file and ini I get the same thing. I was experimenting with individual show ini on this one in the pictures.
Thanks
Wayne

The Comskip Playback is what reads the Comskip edl/txt files and marks the commercials on the bar.

Maybe do a plugin uninstall of Comskip Playback, reboot, install Comskip Playback to see if that can 'reset' it?

I can confirm that using the pay version of Comskip fixed my issues. Of course that fixed any new recordings that were being scanned by Comskip. I also had to go back and delete the Comskip files for shows that were scanned using the free version and therefore didn't "find" and commercials. This allowed the pay version to rescan those videos and "find" the commercials correctly. I believe all my files are back to having a good Comskip file associated with it.

I uninstalled all 4 associated plugins and rebooted the machine and then reinstalled all of them and that made no difference.

I also run the donators version of comskip. I was running 82_007, so I installed 82_010 and that made no difference.

It appears that comskip starts on all of the recorded programs and stops for what ever reason. The log files are only 10-15 kb
If I run manually the log files are up in 120 kb or so for 1/2 hr show and there is a whole lot more data in the manual run comskip log.
I don't know what logs to look at and see if I can tell where or what is stopping it.
Thanks
Wayne

I don't know if this will post, but here is a log file on a show that comskip started and looks like it did not complete

I think I have my problem solved. I downloaded a cpu monitor and was watching the core and thread use as comskip worked its magic. When I done a manual comskip the cpu would see 4 cores ( I have the threads set to 4 ) spike up while comskip was working. But when sage initiated the comskip, the cores would not show hardly anything. So after looking thru the commercial detector plugin several times and trying different things. I disabled Start comskip as soon as recording starts and now everything seems to be working. I don't know what the default setting is and I don't remember if I changed it after the new install and forgot it. But any how this seems to be working ok now after several recordings thru the night.
Thanks for the help and ideas

Good point -- there seem to be at least two places this setting can be modified 1) installed plugin, and 2) detailed settings, and perhaps a 3rd in the .ini file for Comskip. Mine were set differently for 1 and 2 which is not likely a good thing. I changed it back to 'false' as you did and will see if it behaves better. thanks
