I did that back in 2012. I rebuilt the wiz.bin from scratch. I am not aware of any automated way to clean out / compress the wiz.bin.
I ran a manual process. Prerequisites include having the Jetty web server and SageTV web interface installed. You need that to export favorites. I was going to list the steps here, but I am lazy. Then I remembered I've worked in IT for 40 years. I keep notes. I found the notes. They point me to this link. It is what I used. Good luck. Interestingly, I searched the forum for 'recreate "wiz.bin"' and the search returned no results. Fascinating. I had a PDF of the posting and used that to find it.

I looked at the linked instructions, and it said to export the wiz.bin as xml. In the web server I see an option to import xml but no export function.
(This is not something I need to do currently, but am saving the instructions for just-in-case).

From the Web UI
SageTV drop down, choose Recordings Then above the list, you will see: SageTV logoSage Recordings [XML] Click on the XML icon |

Hmm, I just tried this and got the following
It tried to load this page after clicking on the XML icon: http://htpc:8080/sage/Recordings?xml=yes Showed this error Quote:
I can go into Schedule Recordings-Favorites Manager and click on the orange XML icon for it to load page: http://htpc:8080/sage/Favorites?xml=yes That prompts a download for favorites.xml, so I can get the favorites.xml download to work but for some reason the recordings.xml does not.

Just to clarify, are you certain the size of your wiz.bin is 7,241,846kb? That would be over 7gb. For comparison purposes, mine is 66,308kb, or 66mb. If your wiz.bin is actually 7,241,846 bytes, that is good size but not huge. If it truly is over 7gb, that could certainly be the cause of your problem. I'd be surprised if the Sage server would even successfully start.
