When does unRAID recognize hardware device changes?

Does anyone know what you have to do when you add a new device or even just power off and power back on something like an HD-PVR.

In my limited testing it looks like restarting the SageTV docker is not enough. You seem to have to restart your unRAID box, which is a pain as you have to stop the array which takes a few minutes.

Do others see similar behaviour? Have you been successful with just restarting the docker? Are there any ways to have unRAID refresh hardware changes to help to avoid a reboot?

To partially answer my own question, when you add a new Firewire device all you have to do is to restart the docker. I swapped out TV set top boxes and the new Firewire device showed up and was functional.
