Moving Converted Recordings to New Server
As I migrate recordings from my old XP 9.1 box, I notice that converted recordings(via Sage Convert) now show up as Videos. My understanding is that Sage preserves properties w/in the recording so they can show up as such on another server.
I found a past thread which seems to confirm this; https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=10 Original(unconverted) recordings show up properly. In import directories, recordings are set to be treated as recordings. I've also tried putting them in the new server's recording directory, but no dice. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for the help. |

Looks like no one's using Sage's converter much these days. But in case anyone else runs across this I'll summarize what I found.
A recording on a 9.1 server is converted into mkv file using Sage's Convert program. Newly converted mkv shows up as a recording, along with any metadata, and plays as expected. New 9.2 server. Moving these 9.1 converted files now show up as Videos, but not with their original metadata. According to Fuzzy's post in the aforementioned link, metadata should be added to the converted file. I then converted a new(unrelated) recording from the 9.2 server into an mkv file. On the 9.1 server, imported that file into Sage, and now it too shows up as a video, with no metadata attached. From these results, if you move a converted recording to a new Sage install, don't expect them to show up as recordings. Thought this might be of interest as I've seen a few posts from users migrating to new hardware. I wanted a fresh install on my hardware, so intentionally didn't move any database/config files from the old server. Guessing this whole thing can be avoided by migrating the appropriate files. |

Isn't there an option to have them imported shows appear in recordings? Or maybe BMT can do this.

Pretty sure both BMT and CMT give the ability to change imports to recordings

Yes there is an option to view tv recordings in import directories as either videos or recordings. It's set to recordings.
I'll try BMT and CMT. Appreciate the suggestions. |
