My SageTV server (Win7 x64, Sage 9.1.9, Ceton InfiniTV 4 card) is acting up but it's still prime recording season so the family would kill me if I took the box offline for a clean install* and bring up.

Thoughts on upgrading to SageTV 9.2.1 x64 and the latest JRE (1.8.211(?)) after backing up wiz.bin and the properties files as well as doing an image backup of the drive?

*Someone have a link to a clean fresh SageTV install process for Win10 and the old Ceton card (use the Win8 driver I believe)? I have an opportunity to upgrade the hardware from an old 4-core i5 to a much beefier setup.

Easiest, quickest path is to install Sage-x64 on your existing server, while leaving the x86 version in place. Both versions will nicely co-exist, although they can't both be running at the same time. Of course, since only one can run at a time, it implies the need for a "maintenance window" where the family won't be able to access Sage while you tweak the Sage-64 config itself. Taking this approach avoids the need fiddle with anything having to do with the Ceton card (including re-activation of the CableCard which will be needed when Ceton is moved to a new motherboard) and/or SageDCT (or OpenDct, if that's what's being used).

Be aware that subtitles (closed captions) don't work on the 64-bit versions of the Sage Client or Placeshifter. See: https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...&postcount=445

Regardless of whether you do a "parallel installation" or instead bring up a whole new box, it's still possible to copy wiz.bin (which stores recording history, playback markers, Favorites, etc) as well as leverage the existing x86 property files by careful copying to the new installation. Copying the existing .property files for any HD200/300 extenders means less disruption to the family. I recommend installing the server first, followed by the Client and Placeshifter (if desired).

Installing on Win10 is pretty much identical to installing on Win7/Vista. Use the same Ceton drivers that are used on Win7/Vista. I think SageDCT/OpenDCT installation is the same story.
