Convincing SageService to transcode to my HD300s

I have 2 old HD300's both of which appear to be in fine shape, but both are having increasing difficulties (I believe) as video standards and formats evolve. What happens is when presented with a format that sage service thinks they should be able to handle, they sometimes just hang. I believe that it is mostly with TS containers with H.264 video. They will play some of these and not others. I have made sure that I am at the last version of their firmware -- reloaded it just to make sure (which helped my older box!).

BUT on android, there is a way to tell the remote sage service to transcode and stream instead of sending the file. Can this be done with the HD300s?

I saw mention that there may be a setting and sage.properties, but can not get it to work. The actual command was not specified, just that it was similar to miniclient/disabled_audio_codecs. I tried miniclient/disabled_video_codecs but do not know what to specify as the codec or even if I guessed the command correctly. I tried:

miniclient/disabled_video_codecs=H.264,AVC

This does not convince sage service to transcode a TS with H.264 video to my HD300. Or at least the HD300 does nothing different -- it appears to hang.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Including a device that would make a good replacement my sage miniclient boxes!

Thanks for any and all inputs, suggestions, and hints!

I've found that firmware version 20110124-2 provides the best functionality for me. The versions after that have broken Multi Channel audio.

I wouldn't have thought to step back from the betas. I've been running the last one (stp300-20110506-0.bin) successfully for almost ...?10 years -- but it's just to an HD TV, nothing special.

I had the earlier beta (stp300-20110217-2.bin) on the newer HD300 and had the same problem.

I will give the release version a try.
If it doesn't work and I don't get any hints here, I guess that I'll look for a small linux box to act as an extender. I have an old tablet that I'm starting to rehost for that duty -- but it's windows and I need to leave it that way at least for now. Maybe dual boot... and the new SageTVx64 version's working pretty well

Do you know if we still have any active developers?

EDIT: No change -- still won't play files that play fine on the PC and in the Android client (push or native).
I guess I'm looking for a box to use as an extender...

What does SageTV show the format of the files as?

I play TS files with H.264 video of all sort of resolutions on my HD300.

FYI. miniclient/disabled_video_codecs is not a valid property. I can't see anything to disable Video codecs, only Audio codecs
