Imported Video Showing in Current Recordings
I'm coping a lot of videos from a season of a tv episode (from current a current recordings folder) into an imported folder. I also have renamed the episodes to something like 01-01 Pilot.ts 01-02 Second episode.ts and so on. Sage is showing the tv shows twice in Current Recordings and there isn't even a folder in Imported Videos and I can't figure out why. I've tried to rescan from settings.
All help appreciated. Thanks, |

I figured it out - Manage Metadata, Change type to imported.

It looks like this is still a problem. I wanted to free up space so I added another hard drive and moved some imported recordings to another folder. I then added the new folder to the imported video directories and did a scan imported media and then sage moved them back into current recordings. I don't understand why sage is putting these video files in current recordings in Archives. They are not even part of the video directories for current recordings. Now I have to go back and edit the metadata again and change them to imported videos. It seems to only be doing it with some recordings that I recorded from the HDHomeRun but I don't understand why it is not seeing them as imported videos by default.

Sage adds metadata to each video file it records (unless the file was recorded prior to Sage 7). Doesn't matter where in the filesystem it physically resides. The original metadata in the recording is still embedded. Once it's manually edited, the metadata in its .properties file overrides the embedded metadata.

I understand what you are saying and I don't think it's a good thing at all. Say for example I have my "Media Center Import Directory" videos on the Y drive and If I have my "Video Recording Directory" on the Z drive then you are saying some files from the Y drive will still appear in the Archive folder and not show in the imported videos unless I specifically change the tag for each file. Then if I at some point change the location of the file, I'll have to do it again or it will again default to the Archive Folder in TV Recordings.
I think TV Recordings should only show files from the Video Recording Directory but I guess it can also show recordings from the Media Center Import Directories. |

You haven't provided any indication if a plugin such as Gemstone is being used. All of my comments refer to the "stock" Sage 7 or 9, since I don't use Gemstone etc.
When metadata exists (either embedded in a video file **recorded by Sage**, or created manually), that's what determines where the content gets listed in Sage's menus. If metadata doesn't exist, then content is listed under the Videos menu, no matter where it exists in the filesystem. Placing a random video that was downloaded from the Internet into the folder that contains Sage's recordings won't automatically make it appear in under the Recordings menu. If you've manually edited the metadata (which creates a corresponding .properties file for the video), simply moving the video file to another folder won't change where it's listed in the menus.

So I guess the only way to force a video recorded by Sage to always be in Imported Recordings would be to remove the metadata with a program like VideoRedo or something.

They should be fine if you keep the media file and the associated .properties file together.
