H264 Video Closed Captions--how to get them

I'm still unable to view closed captions in H264 videos on my Comcast/Xfinity cable channels using SageTV9 running on my server machine. I've tried various H264 decoders without improvement.

Oddly, my HD200 and HD300 extenders have no problem with the closed captions on the same H264 channels.

Does anyone know what H264 decoder is being used in the extenders and if there is a version of it that can be ported to SageTV9 running on Windows10?

It would be great if this problem can be solved as I suspect there are many like me who are highly dependent on the closed captioning. Thanks in advance.

I did this a long time ago. I will try to reproduce the process. I do know I used post here in the forums (I did it 3+ years ago, so the post I was working from is older than that.), and I'm 95% sure it involved changing the (Can't think of the term, spliter, streamer???). The reason the HD200/300 work, is they handle the stream them self, and so can display the data.

This might take me some time, so I currently have little free time. Also why I post that the data I used before was from here on the forum.

Thanks, MH. I have searched many times and haven't come across the post(s) you mentioned.

I'll be looking forward to your post when you have had a chance to research this.

Best.
