NeTV2 / HDMI2USB potential use as Sage tuner?

I'm wondering if anyone is tracking Bunnie Huang's NeTV2 project and the somewhat-related HDMI2USB project. They seem like they might have potential to serve as open source tuners to capture (unencrypted) HDMI sources similar to a Colossus or HD PVR.

Has anyone taken a close look at these projects to see if they have potential applications for SageTV?

One question I have is around the audio story and 5.1 audio support.

I am not sure what this gives you that the BM-1000 types of devices don't, although I don't think the BM-1000 is 5.1 either. The BM-1000 is essentially HDMI to ethernet that doesn't care about HDCP and there are now 4K versions available that can encode with either H.264 or H.265.
