SJQ alternative
I need to be able to flip a couple Xbox 360's on and off, so I put together a command file that can do this with a USB-UIRT. Getting the rotating IR code working properly in the command file turned out to be a little tricky, but got past that and the command file can now turn the Xbox's on and off without issue.
I got the idea from forum user EnterNoEscape who was using SJQ to call the command file. Reading the SJQ V3 forum posts, it's unclear to me if SJQ still works on later versions of Java, and I've been avoiding Sage plugins that have Java version issues to keep my SageTV server stable. So I need to be able to cycle these Xbox's on and off maybe 3 or 4 times a day, but I don't want to do it while the system is recording from either of (2) of my tuners (Siena based). I decided the easiest way is probably to figure out how to create a command file that can launch (or just read) a webpage, and have it check the text on the web interface. Would someone please point me in the right direction here for command file creation (WGET maybe?), or a better method, or that I need to spend more time looking to SJQ for this function? |

FYI I run SJQ on the latest JAVA 8 Docker and it works fine.

SJQv3 is obsolete - SJQv4 is the latest version and I would recommend using that. It shouldn't be too hard to launch a file from within Groovy/Java or a Batch file. Groovy is the programming language used in SJQv4 and it is a superset of Java, in that Java code will word in Groovy, but Groovy has "Groovy-er" ways of doing things.
If you can find the sample code files form SJQ there was a script that would check to see if anything was recording and if not it would reboot the SageTV server. It sounds like you could recycle that code and just make it reboot your Xbox(es) rather than the SageTV server.

Ah, sorry. I keep getting lost in the SJQ threads, ending up in the wrong version. I see I've already posted in v4, and ENE's sample file is already there. I'll give it a go.
Thanks, guys. |
