Q: Post-process/transcode OTA MPEG2-PS/TS files to H.264 MP4/MKV (setup?)

What solution, if any, is most appropriate for automating the conversion of MPEG2-TS recordings on a scheduled basis?

In Windows I've didn't have particularly good results using the built-in transcoding and the last time I did anything like this used the Mediashrink package. That was years ago though, and after a rebuild I've just been going without any transcoding.

I have SJQ jobs that run after a recording that transcode to H.264/MP4 using the HandbrakeCLI. The script also copies the file to folders based on the show name. I am pretty sure that you will see some posts on this subject in the SJQ thread. You have to write a bit of code in Groovy to do this but it isn't too painful.

The good thing about Handbrake if you care about speed is that it now supports Intel QuickSync which makes things go much faster.

This might do it, but it may take some creativity to get it working on a schedule;

Ditto. I do this overnight on a v9 Windows 10 server. I actually use the MediaShrink tool, which uses Handbrake, to do the compression.
