Capture Error - Cannot free anymore diskspace
I suddenly got a new error I've never seen before. A dialog on the screen reads "There was a capture error in playback. Details: SageTV cannot free anymore diskspace to continue recording. Please delete some of your recorded files."
The problem is, I have lots of free space. All recordings go to /media/nas1media or /media/nas2media. gary@media3 ~ $ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 977M 0 977M 0% /dev tmpfs 200M 14M 187M 7% /run /dev/mapper/mint--vg-root 37G 15G 21G 42% / tmpfs 1000M 1004K 999M 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock tmpfs 1000M 0 1000M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/sda1 472M 176M 272M 40% /boot cgmfs 100K 0 100K 0% /run/cgmanager/fs //nas2.home.lcl/multimedia 8.2T 1.2T 7.1T 14% /media/nas2media //nas1.home.lcl/media 15T 8.0T 7.1T 54% /media/nas1media tmpfs 200M 32K 200M 1% /run/user/1000 /etc/fstab entries: # nas1 //nas1.home.lcl/media /media/nas1media cifs credentials=/home/gary/.sagetv,sec=ntlm,noperm 0 0 # nas2 //nas2.home.lcl/multimedia /media/nas2media cifs credentials=/home/gary/.sagetv,sec=ntlm,noperm 0 0 An interesting (but wrong) entry in sagetv_0.txt: Fri 11/3 15:27:32.013 [Seeker@29189490] needFreeSize = 0.0 GB currFreeSize=-3.174963712 GB I should also note this only occurs when previewing channels from the video sources menus. Sample outputs of the above line: Fri 11/3 15:37:42.792 [Seeker@29189490] needFreeSize = 2.025 GB currFreeSize=7718.097010688 GB Fri 11/3 15:50:30.540 [Seeker@29189490] needFreeSize = 0.0 GB currFreeSize=-3.163417088 GB Any ideas? This might have no bearing, but I'm sure I'm not the first one to notice sometimes drives aren't accounted for when checking free space on unRAID. Have you considered that some of that free space could be your cache drive? Sometimes while the mover is running on my unRAID server SageTV reports only the disk space available on the array and doesn't include the additional space afforded by the cache.

I don't use unraid. It's a Linux system that mounts two NAS devices. The free space reported by df is accurate.

Curious. I just got a Sage System Message today indicating I am very low on disk space.
My Sage Server is running on Windows 7, SageTV 9.1.7, 2 separate recording drives, each having at least 400 GB free. Sage indicates I have 197.x GB free ( the drive space indicator in Gemstone).

Channel Setup Capture Error - diskspace
I am getting this same error (capture error) whenever I try to use Channel Setup. It is immediately followed by a playback error (I assume because it can't access the file that was never saved)
The problems seems to only affect Channel Setup and not scheduled recordings. My main drive was close to full so I figured it must be saving a temporary file on the main drive somewhere. I cleared out some junk and have 16GB free now but I still get the error. The video plays for 2 or three seconds then freezes and the error pops up. If I close the error message and stop the playback then play the preview again it doesn't tune at all, it seems to get stuck at Channel preview is initializing (guessing maybe the first preview filled up whatever temp space there was). I should mention that I lost a few channels recently. The cable company had to reprogram my cable card so I am attempting to use Channel Setup to get them all working again. I only mention that in case it is somehow related. Thanks a lot. My system is an ubuntu server with an HDHR Prime with cable card and opendct. Details of the filesystem are below. Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev tmpfs 1.6G 9.6M 1.6G 1% /run /dev/sda2 94G 76G 14G 86% / tmpfs 7.9G 192K 7.9G 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 8.0K 5.0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 7.9G 0 7.9G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/sdb1 2.7T 1.8T 855G 68% /var/media/Recordings /dev/sda1 511M 3.4M 508M 1% /boot/efi /dev/sdc2 1.4T 109M 1.4T 1% /var/media/videos /dev/sdc1 1.9T 984G 880G 53% /var/media/Recordings2 /dev/sdc3 467G 80M 467G 1% /var/media/Files tmpfs 1.6G 28K 1.6G 1% /run/user/112 tmpfs 1.6G 0 1.6G 0% /run/user/1000 |

it turns out this was not enough space in var/media/tv - I don't actually record anything in that directory but I guess that is where channel setup tries to record
