getting Hauppauge cards working

just installed linuxmint 18.2 (ubuntu 16.10) and have both server & client installed. Sagetv 9.1.6

everything seems to work on the software side except no capture cards. everything previously worked fine on win 10 64 bit side. not sure how to setup drivers etc for this any help gang? i have 1 2250 card & 2 2255 cards lshw lists all cards so I am deducting that this is just a driver issue. how do i go about manually installing the right drivers?

Installed the firmware in linuxmint 18.2 but having issues with the signal quality. I have no problems with signal on the win 10 side. It only shows in the 40 - 50 % range vs 85-100% on the win 10 side of my dual boot setup. Hoping to lick the problems so can stay on the linux side all the time, as well as the advantages of 64 bit java. the 32 bit java tends to max out with my multiple cards working all the time to win 10 client. maybe it is install mistake? not as proficient with linux as i am with win 10.
