Halt detected for initally, then audio only, no video
I've been getting some odd recordings recently.
halt detected in recording The device input "SageDCT-HDHomeRun Prim Tuner 13212AA5-0 on 127.0.0.1:6970 Digital TV Tuner" stopped producing data while recording "Renovation Gap" on HGTVD on physcal channel 765. SageTV will try to retore the device. This may be caused by a channel that is no longer available. The first 1m 30s (or so) of the viewing progress bar is red, the remainder is green. I get audio for all of the green portion, but no video. See attached log file. I am able to view the recording with VideoLAN. This has been happening with some, but not all of the recordings in the last few weeks. Do I need to install the LAV codec's? Any hints? (initially posted in Hardware - re-posted here) |

It appears that whatever made the recording glitch caused the recording to be written into 2 segments (this is expected). However, when it did that, the first segment is zero length so the system doesn't seem to know how to bridge that into the next segment.
The bulk of the show is recorded into '=G:\TV\RenovationGap-S01E01-HodgepodgeNoMore-3940715-1.ts' but the playback keeps reporting this for the first segment: Code:
Thu 8/24 13:06:30.875 [Seeker@15037e4] Doing pre-emptive file format detection on recording MediaFile....G:\TV\RenovationGap-S01E01-HodgepodgeNoMore-3940715-0.ts Thu 8/24 13:06:30.882 [Seeker@15037e4] Returning null format for zero-length file |

Forgot to provide my setup.
SageTv v9.1.6.747 SageDCT, v2.6.0.0 Windows 10 PRO HDHomeRun Prime w/Cable card - Spectrum I'm starting to wonder if my video HD is going bad and taking about a 1 minute to respond. After the system has been sitting idle for a few hours, when I use Program Guide to view TV, I get the spinning circle for 30+ seconds, then get "No Signal". If I quit that, and try a different channel, I get the channel right away and when I go back to the original channel, I get that channel right away. |

Any thoughts? All recordings this weekend had this issue. |

SageDCT? I see that in your config.
OpenDCT is more advanced, actively supported, and may fix the sort of issue you describe. See the thread on OpenDCT, in this forum, for more information on how to download and install it. It's a relatively simple process. I cannot guarantee it will solve your issue, if the root cause is a bad tuner, but it can only help. I had similar issues with SageDCT. Changing to V9 and OpenDCT I do not see audio-only issues with tuners.

Additional information - The above viewing was done on the server, from the SageTV app.
When I attempted to view the same recorded programs on my HD200, I did not get either audio or video. When I view it on the ShieldTV, it plays correctly. Reminder - when I play these recordings on the server, I get audio, but not video This is strange. This is a hardware or software issue? |

Egeller,
I have considered converting to OpenDCT and have downloaded a recent version, but since the SageDCT had been working until a few weeks ago, I wold like to understand the cause before I start changing too many things. I've already updated SageTV to the recent version (I was one or two minor changes back) and that update did not improve anything. |

I replaced SageDCT with OpenDCT and my problem has slightly worse.
It used to be that I could select a channel, get a no signal, close that channel and reselect that channel and be able to view it and any other channel I want to view. Now, with OpenDCT, while it generally works, I occasionally attempt to view a channel and get no signal if I go without viewing a channel for for a few minutes. The HDHomeRun view applet has no problems tuning channels. |

Bump
This has gotten worse. SageTV recording and viewing has completely quit working. Every time I attempt to view a program, I get "No Signal". I do not have any problems getting video when using the HDHomerun application, but I am not able to get any video when using SageTV. I've changed from SageDCT to OpenDCT and back again and that did not make a difference. Any suggestions? |

If you can attempt to tune in with OpenDCT and post the OpenDCT log, I might be able to give you an idea of what is going on.

Here is a snippet from the OpenDCT logs. (probably more data than necessary)
Looks like a connectivity issue. Quote:

It's interesting that it can discover them, but everything breaks down after that. You'll want to disable ufw if it's running for the moment. This could be any number of things, but I would start with any software that blocks traffic such as a firewall.

EnterNoEscape, Thanks for your hint.
Network Discovery (UPnP-In and Out) for the Domain was disabled (Public was also disabled, Private was enabled) I enabled UPnP-In and UPnP-Out for the domain and SageTV seems to be working better. I suspect this firewall rule change might have happened when MicroSoft pushed their last update a few weeks ago. The below log does contains some interesting messages but no errors. INFO mpegts - [378eb0c0] decoding for stream 0 failed INFO FFmpegStreamDetection - Desired program set. Stream details unavailable for one or more streams. Trying again with an extended probe. WARN mpegts - [378eb0c0] PES packet size mismatch Quote:
