Black screen
A couple of times now recently I've used my remote to 'turn on' my system and just had a black screen
It turns on my Onkyo receiver then turns on the TV. Since my server and HD300 are always running I should just see the SageTV UI once the receiver and TV are powered on. I have to unplug the power to the HD300 and then plug it back in (power cycle), in order to get the display working. Is this an indication that the HD300 is failing? If so, is there anything that I can do?

If you're not already, I would try using routerunner's auto power off plugin. This problem would occasionally occur with my HD300. Like you, I'm connecting to an Onkyo receiver. Onkyo has had numerous problems with their HDMI on their receivers so it may not be an HD300 issue. Regardless, this seemed to prevent/resolve the issue for me.
