Channel Tuning Problem

Hello - For a long time I had a problem with channel tuning with the STB where it would often miss the first number of the channel. So, if I wanted to record channel 170 it would often record channel 70. It was as if the first channel number would "wake up the time warner box" or something. I found a great workaround where I would never miss a channel. I'm using the USB-UIRT and in Setup Video Sources, Tuner Control, Remote Control Options in Sage I set the Channel Change Prefix Code to zero so when tuning 170 it will tune 0170. when I tune channel 60 it will tune 060 and so on. It works great because if the box is awake then 060 becomes 60 and if the box is asleep then it just tunes 60. I really don't know if the box is asleep or why it has this problem. I don't think it has this problem if I manually use the Remote Control for the box.

Now, the problem of course is that I can only get up to channel 999 and if I want a 4 digit channel such as 1234 then the box successfully tunes channel 0123 which is channel 123 and then from there switches the channel to channel 4.

I have tried it without the zero prefix but all too often it will tune the wrong channel and miss the first digit in the channel. I have tried different delays but the problem seems to have something to do with the box missing the first number. Any other suggestions so that I can tune 4 digit channels? I suppose if Sage let me do more than one digit for a prefix code, I could probably get around the problem by tuning one channel then going to the correct channel.

I don't know the Channel Change Confirm code is or if that might help but otherwise I'm not sure what else to try if I want to tune 4 digit channels.

Thanks,

Is there another non-digit button that will wake the box for you? You can teach sage THAT button, and use that as your prefix code.

Sage only allows numbers 0-9 for a channel change prefix code. Suppose I want to try just the Enter/Select on the remote. How could I do that when I can only select 0-9

<edit> Never mind, I understand now. I think I have to use the Learn command.

Thanks,

Correct, you can teach sage any command, and it can be named by you. ENTER, POWER, etc, it's up to you what each button is called. By default, when creating a new 'remote', though, it only asks you to train 0-9.

Once you have taught it that button, you can then select that button to be used before or after a channel change.
