Test Environment

Hi @EnterNoEscape

I am setting up a test environment in Windows 7. (U an finally getting around to converting to SageTV V9.)

I have SageTV setup of the test system, but when I go to watch live TV, all I get is a black screen. In order for the HDHomeRun tuners to be found on the test system, do I also need to install OpenDCT on the test system?

Thanks,
John

Be sure to have selected a microsoft decoder or another one if you have a different codec pack installed. LAV Filters is a very good one. v9 doesn't come with the sage mpeg decoders.

Depends which model of hdhomerun. The Prime (which uses cable card) is not natively supported by Sage. You need OpenDCT or similar software to talk to the Prime and present it to Sage as a Sage Network Tuner.

The other models of HDHR that work with ATSC broadcast or Clear QAM digital cable are natively supported by Sage, but it is also possible to use them with OpenDCT.

Some models of HDHR also support hardware transcoding. This feature is not natively supported by Sage, but can be used if you use OpenDCT.
