HDHomerun "Stopped producing data" errors
My SageTV setup has been working fine for years. I have an older basic model HDHomerun that has been working fine for recording OTA channels.
In the past three weeks, it has been getting errors on at least 50% of recordings where SageTV reports that the hdhomerun "stopped producing data" and that it will try resetting the device. How should I debug this problem? Is this a sign that my hdhomerun has died and needs to be replaced? I upgraded to windows 10 and Sage9 about 4 months ago, but I have not made any recent changes to the computer, antenna, cabling etc since then. |

When this occurs, what are the signal properties as viewed from the HDHR software?

I have similar errors occurring and they pretty much always occur around the top of the hour. For example, when recording the Masters golf from 2-7 on Sunday I had a "stopped producing data" error for about 2-3 minutes around 3:00. This happens almost every time on OTA recordings, which are usually sports recordings. But it pretty much always occurs around the top of the hour. Do you see something similar?

I wanted to provide an update in case anyone is searching for the same problem. After dealing with the "Stopped Producing data" error for a while, I noticed that the power supply for my HD Home-run was really hot. Like burn your fingers hot. I replaced it with another power supply I had in my junk bin and all of my HD Homerun problems went away.
My errors seemed pretty random, but they did occur more often when two shows were being recorded at the same time. Probably due to the fact that two tuners put more stress on the power supply than a single tuner. |
