What gets blown away when you upgrade the Docker?

I haven't upgraded my SageTV Docker - but if I remember correctly some or all files get blown away. What files in the appdata partition get blown away or replaced when you upgrade?

And if I want to use other applications, like Handbrake, with SageTV then where should I put them? Could I create an /appdata/sagetv/handbrake folder?

Or should it go somewhere else?

And what about custom web groovy web pages that I create that are in \appdata\sagetv\server\webserver\groovy? Will they be deleted or will they remain?

The whole purpose of "appdata" is that never gets blown away. The only things that would be blown away when you update the dock are things that you do and store inside the docker container. For example if you open a shell into your sagetv docker and you edit files in /etc/ or you install a new package... all that gets blown away. But things that are stored in "appdata" does not get touched. So you can remove the sagetv docker container totally, but the "appdata" will remain.

During a container restart, the scripts (inside the container) will upgrade sagetv, and it will backup the Wiz.bin and properties in the process. It will update comskip binary as well, and reset permissions on the filesystem. So, in this case, things can get overwritten (ie, a new sagetv update) but nothing gets deleted.

Thanks - but I thought that some of the files in /appdata/sagetv/server are core files and would get updated when the SageTV version is updated. For example, jar files - aren't some of these updated when the system is updated? Or are the jars here only for plugins?

That was my comment "will upgrade sagetv,"... so yeah, all the sagetv files will get overwritten (except configuration files, like .properties and wiz.bin). But nothing gets deleted... things just get updated.
