How to setup a USB-UIRT in unRAID/Docker

Yeah, I had the same discussions, but passing through the device to a VM is complex and unreliable - both Tuner and USB-UIRT. I was trying to do the same with HDPVR2 and USB-UIRT. Gave up after many hours of effort and invested in a HDMI->SatIP card instead with USB-UIRT set up in SageTV docker. YMMV...

Theoretically you could pass both your USB-UIRT and Colossus through to your VM. But one guy told me: "I've tried several tuners via a Windows 7 VM and gave up on all of them. Passing through the tuners was fine but it would always drop signal and packets and basically unusable. I've tried several PCI-E tuners and also USB based tuners and all of them exhibited the same issue. I tried Windows 7 and 10."

If you set it up as you say, I think you'd set up the USB-UIRT in the Sage Docker, as that's where you'd set up recordings etc. But could be set up on either I suppose.

I'd put the USB-UIRT on the Windows VM. It seems like it would be a bit complex to do on the unRAID side.

I can't speak to capture cards or USB-UIRT passthrough and performance, but have no problems with passing my USB ZWave controller through to a VM. The thing to note is that hot swap is not supported so if you need to unplug the USB device you'll want to shut down the VM first.

I'd like to see if I can establish channel changing with my UIRT. I have started from scratch and leveraged all the files as is.

I can see video, but channel changes do not work.

-Where exactly do I run the "gentuner REMOTES" command? In the docker console? In the Unraid console?

-I notice this error around the UIRT in my Docker Log. Any suggestions?
