Use Windows VM for multi-zone USB-UIRT?

I think I have now got the USB-UIRT working in docker but I now realize that there is an issue since it doesn't support the multi-zone capabilities of the device. Therefore you can only use it to control one STB.

I am likely to install WHS 2011 in a VM under unRAID to do my client backups so I am wondering if it makes sense to then use Windows to do the actual IR blasting using the Windows tools for the USB-UIRT.

It looks like you could have gentuner call any script when tuning in Linux so in this script you would then tell Windows - send 503 to Zone 1 of the USB-UIRT. You could do this using the uutx.exe command line program. One way to do this is by running openssh server on the windows machine and changing the gentuner command to be a ssh command.

Or I could even then use FireWire on windows by calling channel.exe.

Would a Windows WHS 2011 VM have access to the USB-UIRT or FireWire?

Its kludgey as hell, but does anyone have a better suggestion for multi-STB tuning in Linux?
