Multi zone audio from Win 7 client PC?

When I was using a HD100 I had it connected to my AVR via HDMI and the RCA jacks connected to "zone 2"on my AVR. So I would hear DD5.1 through my speakers and analog stereo through my headphones (connected to "zone 2") at the same time.

I recently replaced my HD100 with a Win 7 client and I'm trying to achieve the same results... My understanding is the the program (SageTV) has to support outputting to two different audio channels at the same time for this to work using Win 7. Is this possible with SageTV. Is there a plugin that enables this functionality? (I have found XBMC has a plugin for this...)

At some level it depends on your PC and the codecs you use.
I would think that with something like FFDshow you could get it to work.

You can setup you audio to output to HDMI and the analog audio at the same time. But...I am not sure the sound would be correct on the Analog side if you had 5.1 setup correctly from HDMI. SageTV does not give you multiple Audio output options so it would be up to what you could do in FFDshow.

Why would you not just plug the headphone into the Receiver's headphone jack? I would think that would handle dumbing down the 5.1 signal.
