HD300 Screen/Window Resolution
I was trying to figure out why I had some grainy fan art on my HD300 - turns out it's got the resolution set at 1080p, however the UI window size is 1024x576.
Has it always been this way? I know the android mini client has 1080p for both screen and window, but I wasn't sure if this was the standard for HD300. I could have sworn it ran at 1280x720, although I've slept a lot since I last thought about this.... And is this something we can change in the Open Source version?

The Android MiniClient basically sends down it's native UI size as the window size (which can be the source of performance issues since it takes up more image cache on the client and results in more image unloading/reloading). There is no real HD300 open source version (ie, we can never make a new firmware for the HD300). The best we could hope for is that _Demo_ releases his HD400 at some point

It depends on the firmware you are running. The later beta firmwares upgraded the UI to 720. However, the last several beta firmwares introduced a DTS-MA bug. I recommend using the 20110124-2 firmware which has the upgraded UI resolution without the DTS-MA bug. There is a discussion related to this here.

Just want to confirm that you DON'T want the latest HD300 beta firmware if you are bitstreaming to a receiver because of the aforementioned audio bug. I also settled on the '124 firmware. My notes about it say that it has the 720p resolution, fixed bitstreaming, and no frame dropping in native resolution mode. Some of the other beta versions would apparently drop frames or somehow be out of sync slightly, causing some jerkiness.
